SHOWER HEAD

pjppappas <pjppappas@...>

Hello from Callisto SM2000 #369. My shower head has become non
functional. I returned it to Gorhe however inspite of the fact that the
shower controller is Gorhe the shower head is not. Does any one know
where I can send the shower head for replacement or repair. Thanks

Slip for Amel in Fr Lauderdale

Jose Venegas <jgvenegas@...>

Dear Joel,

A few questions:

1) Do you know of any slip where I could leave an Amel SM2000 between
January and April or May 09 and how much would it cost?
Captain Urquhart who lived on 1317 SW 17 St and kept my Beneteau in
2001 is no longer around or at least I don't have a working phone
number.

2) I noted that Nike does not have the wood piece closing the bow
thruster area. I thought you mentioned it was something done
recently. How much does it cost to add one?

3) My wife loved the lamp on the dinette area. Is it something that
can be retrofitted and, if so, how much does it cost?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Jose

Re: watermaker d 60/fureno radar

svbebe <yahoogroups@...>

I do not know for sure, but on the water maker replace the
membranes...you will probably need to replace the end caps and O rings
also. A good source for membranes is www.airwaterice.com. The best
water maker, in my opinion, is the one you have...if you replace it,
replace it with a Dessalator 160 liter water maker.

Can't help on the radar except that older antenna/radomes do work with
newer head units...if your antenna is working and the problem is with
your head unit, you may be able to upgrade...I would go to Furuno.com
and ask them which head units work with your antenna/radome.

On the fridge, try replacing the control box. It is the most common
problem with the Frigoboat system...even if it is not the problem,
having a spare control box is a good thing. Our SM2 #387 has a
Danfoss #101N0210 control box.

Re: Chain counter

Miles Bidwell <mbidwell@...>

My 10 year old Chain counter stopped working as I was leaving Gibraltar.
The electrician in Martinique found that the front sensor was dead and
replaced it. Three months later, it stopped working again and this time the
electrician in Rhode Island found (for a fee of $400) that the counter was
at fault and could not figure out how to fix it (I have not yet received the
second bill). I bought a new Italian chain counter for about $160 and it
works, although I must find a way to stop it from counting the electrical
impulses from the jib motor. In the US, Defender has several brands for
sale. As long as it works by sending a signal for each rotation of the
gipsy, one can put the new sensor inside the Amel fitting on the windless
and use the same wires, which makes the installation easy. The European
chandleries also sell a variety of counters. The new counter does not look
bad and I would have saved a lot of money and time if I had not tried to fix
the original one after I left France.

Good luck and fair winds,

Eric. we are now in the Med with bush dollars. Not nearly as much fun as 4 years ago. We did have to go and Amel here to haul the boat and replace the prop shaft seals. Seems that our seals and bushing suffered from the coral growth in the Carib. you may want to keep close watch on yours as you we a long time in St Martin and we think that we go the little white buggers either there or in Antigua..
Other then that we are doing well. How are things on your end. Will you be over this way any time soon. We are going to be in Italy for another three weeks then on the Greeek Island and Marmaris Turkey for the winter. If you'd like to come for a visit please do.. best regards Richard and Joan Piller on Challenge

When we have to store a fuel tank of any kind in
the
aft locker we put in a heavy plastic the bag and
wire
tie it. That keeps the oders from the rest of the

We used C-map for eletronic charts in the Med.
they
worked very well.. We also made good use of the

The I-Com 802 with the Pactor III is about as

We found that we got good reception on the SSB in

Pepe, try checking the adjustment on the windless itself.. the clearance between the "button" on the rope sheve and the prox switch.. you can adjust the distance by pushing the prox switch out of the case.. it should be about 10 to 12 mm clearance... try it that may do the trick it did for mine.. You can also check the leads under the deck as well as inside the case. good luck

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Re: Volvo/Autoprop not making rated RPM..advice please

Richard Piller <richard03801@...>

Hi, Also keep in mind that on the Volvo Penta TMD 22 the turbo needs to run from time to time to stop in from carboning up.. if you don't run the thing at something over 2700 from time to time you'll be right back to no power... If changing the injectors was the issue I'd also take a close look at how you are filtering the fuel... I know that Volvo says to use a 10 üm pre filter however a 2 will work. We use two filters that can be switched when one fills with dirt without having to bleed the injectors... that way you change the first filter and when number two goes well just change back... we also added a Delco electric low pressure 12v pump to help the lift pump.. to both the engine and gen set. They work well and are cheep.. you can get them at any Delco parts store..
good luck

Hi
We have a Super Maramu built 1998, and we hade the same
problem with
our Volvo Penta, maybe it could be the same on a Yanmar.
We did do as Ann&John SM #319 suggested but it
wasn't enough. Then we
hade the nozzels/injectors changed. And we had no more
problems.

Hello Niels,
The owners manual for my Yanmar 75HP
recommends that if the
engine
has been on a light load for a while that it
should be run up
to
max
revs to burn off the carbon build up on the
turbo fan. This
should
be
done several times until white smoke is
cleared from the
exhaust.
Having done that it is important to let the
engine tick over
for a
minute or so before turning it off so that
the fan bearings etc
are
cooled/cleansed with > oil rather than leaving
the burnt oil to
dry
in place. It also > recommends injecting a
water/soap spray from

try this!

broken headsail furling mechanism

drdavegoodman

Any and all advice would be appreciated about a new problem. My
headsail was not completely raised when the furling mechanism was
actuated. A shackle on the foot apparently got caught in some nearby
rigging, resulting in the shearing of the 3 set screws between the
motor drive disc and the furling disc. Is there any way short of
dismantling the forestay rig to replace the set screww? I have tried
to tap a new screw holes into the motor drive disc (suggested by Amel)
but cannot get a good alignment. I then removed the 8 rivits and 3
bolts in an effort to lift the manual furler up on the extrusion, but
am unable to budge it.`

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] R5 zincs for super amel 2003 hull #391

amelforme

I get mine from West Marine and tell them to provide a plain zinc/no collar
casting .That said ,the bolt hole is slightly undersized so I have a ream in
the tool kit to open it up a little ,by hand .It's easy .

All the best,

R5 zincs for super amel 2003 hull #391

johnabo2003 <no_reply@...>

I have ordered R5 zincs from 2 different suppliers in the US. Both
times the zincs have arrived with a brass sleeve in the bolt hole that
is smaller than the retaining bolt and a recess that is smaller that
the size of the bolt head.

I have been able to drill out the sleeve ( with some difficulty ) and
addded a washer so that the bolt head stands proud of the zinc.

However, I would prefer to buy zincs that are of the same design as
those origianlly supplied on the Amel. Does anybody know of a zinc
supplier in the US that provides zincs with a hole and resess that
would fit the retaining bolt shaft and head without any modifications?
