Hi Bill,
I am interested. It sounds like a great plan. I will be mostly in Martinique until the beginning of June when I will head north to Newport, RI. As you know, there are a lot of Amels here. Regards, Miles

Eric,
We have an Echomax Passive reflector that came to us with Harmonie. It sits up there in the rigging. And I assume it works. Since we broadcast an AIS signal, I haven't prioritized evaluations of its performance... Bill Kinney SM160, Harmonie Cape Eleuthera, Eleuthera Is. Bahamas

I installed a Sea Me target enhancer when Kimberlite was built. I think it is finally in need of replacement or repair. I cannot find the company. Does anyone have contact info?
If not I see that echomax unit seems to be highly rated at this time. Does anyone have experience with this target enhancer unit? Fair Winds Eric Kimberlite Amel Super Maramu #376’

I would like to know what you think about having an Amel Caribbean Rally in 2019.
I would be happy to spearhead it and believe I might be able to get some discounts from marinas, marine vendors, and possibly restaurants. If we get enough participants, we might even quality for Tourism Board support from places like the BVI, St. Maarten, Martinique, St. Lucia, and Grenada. I know that the Tourism Boards have participated in past rallies by supplying transportation and tours which promote their islands.
As a participant in the Amel Rendezvous in the Chesapeak, I know how much fun these can be.
This email opens it up for discussion. Let me know if you are interested and/or if you can help put this together. Many of us probably have at least one contact in the Caribbean who could help.
Best,

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Re: A54 : can I switch from butane to propane? + advise how to sail to Taiwan?

Hi Alan, When I took delivery of Kimberlite I changed the stove over to propane with aluminum tanks. To get the correct heat I carefully used a very small drill it in a pin vise to drill out every jet and the holes in the oven burner. The drill bit was about a number 65 drill bit. It is a tedious job but if done carefully I can be done without breaking a drill bit.
The oven and burners work well . Except for the rear of the oven being hotter than the font, this has worked for the last 16 years. Fair Winds Eric Kimberlite Amel Super Maramu #376

Hello Oscar,
Our SM was sailed from France through the Pacific with the original blue bottles which were not refillable in New Zealand. We ditched the blue bottles and bought bottles that are more standard for the South Pacific. In some places we get Butane in others Propane. The Stove is designed for butane but works fine with propane....the oven doesn't get as hot with propane compared with butane, but otherwise no problems.

Re: 12 volt electric motor replacement
Hi Don, Just about any substantial auto generator / motor repair shop should easily rebuild yours. Do you know what is wrong with it? If Ft Lauderdale is a possibility for you I've had Lauderdale Battery and Electric do good work, but there are many equally good options. Did Amel give you a price? A rebuild should be <$100. Hi Oscar,
The ENO can use propane or butane. The oven gas burner has an air ring adjustment for the different gas. If it has been set up for butane, the oven will work better with a smaller air opening. On my oven, the instruction manual calls for the gas ring to be set so that the air opening is 6mm for butane and 4mm for propane.
Your planned voyage sounds great.

Re: Stern arch Amel 54
Congratulations on your Amel 54.
We are more or less in the same stage of the process. I’ve ordered a Aluminium Arch that will be powder coated in the same color as the hull. It’s supplied via Atlantic Towers (www.atlantictowers.com). I’m in the middle of determining the dimensions and other stuff. It should be delivered to the Caribbean next month or so. Let me know if you need more information. Arno Luijten Luna, A54-121

We’re in Panama. We use either. No issues. I converted on of the 2 gaz lines to AMERICAN (Panamanian fitting). Left one french. The French bottle rust. So keep them well painted. Gaz here is 4$ for 20lbs. We have fiberglass tanks which we refill, but many cruisers have bought the standard 20lb aluminum tank and then just refill that for the 4$. You can get a fitting to change in any hardware store. They are ubiquitous. Where in Panama are you? Porter S/V IBIS Amel 54-152 Vista Mar Marina

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Stem fitting issue [2 Attachments]
Jeff, This posting is extremely complete. It is as if a combination of a structural engineer, an experienced fisherman and Amel owner wrote the report. Obviously, since Amel changed the stem significantly, I assume that all 54 owners should check to see if the genoa stem on their Amel is close to 6.5mm. To be clear, was this only the genoa, or both genoa and inner foresail? Also, as a possible point of interest to some owners, possibly this is the reason that some have explained torquing of the new furler when operating it.
