Juan,
Tortola looks great and appears well looked after. I’m sure you’ll have little problem selling her. I am also a Mango owner and I’m intrigued with the fold out table attached to the back of the helm seat. Can you tell me where you got it?

Re: Greasing autoprop

That grease nipple was 1/8" BPT on a 2002 AutoProp.

AutoProp H6 propellers changed around 1998 (don't have exact date, maybe you should check with Brutons with your serial number). The bearings required grease only after the change. Email david@... for the most accurate information, and, if needed, you can order the grease fitting and new bearings from him. Include your serial number which is stamped on the propeller.

Re: Pump running

Pat,

You didn't say which pump you have. If you have the Amel original pump, I can send more information.

Yes, all marine freshwater systems have a one-way valve, which allows the system to hold pressure. Sometimes this valve will fail, and more often it will get a piece of debris lodged in it.

Which pump do you have? Picture?

Hi Pat,
I had the same problem on my SM once, I just couldn’t find a leak. Turned out that the 3 way valve at the filter for the water maker didn’t close 100%. I simply installed a cock before the filter, problem solved....

Hi Mark & Nicky,

I’m in a similar position, based in the UK and interested in purchasing an Amel, not sure of the exact model yet but likely a SM.

I’m almost 100% sure that there are no SM's here in the UK.

There are a couple of Maramu’s for sale in London and here in Scotland there is one Amel, a Maramu called Clova based at Ardfern marina. Clova is available for charter through Argyll Yachts.

You’ll be totally amazed when you finally get on board an Amel. They are built like tanks :o)

Your best bet would be a wee trip to the South of France where there are lots of Amel’s on the market and you can see and compare the range. I was initially looking at a Maramu or Santorin but when you get on board a SM, the extra space really impressed me!

Good luck with your search.

Best wishes,

I ‘think’ some Lewmar cars might fit but they come with blocks that only take 12mm lines

These harken type cars would be perfect but I can’t seem to find out if they do them for 32mm track and also if 5mm thick is ok . . .

Any thoughts from the group about suitable replacements that have been used would be super helpful

Tom - did you just unbolt the single stanchion at the fwd end of the Genoa track ? And managed to move it first forward then outboard once the lower side flanges were clear of the toe rail?
if so I’ll try this first and will try to replace the cars completely  🤞
I will anyhow also fix my current cars as I need them now and good to have them in working order too.

Gerhard - it sounds like you just used a ‘push fit’ idea. So the Center hole on the new wheel was a tight fit to the 10mm pin. Then tap with a small hammer into place?

I might try this or ask for a slight shoulder on the pin - as per my sketch. So the lower half of the 10mm is just very slightly thinner than the top half. Say 9.5mm OD.
Combined with a stainless washer/wheel with a
Center whole of the same diameter (9.5mm) of the smaller section of the pin

the wheel would ‘push fit ‘ onto the lower
9.5mm pin section and be prevented from raising higher by the 10mm shoulder

the spring would sit above the wheel/washer as always.

It might just work!?

many thanks to all for the ideas and help on this 👍
