If I am not mistaken, some solar and windregulators need to be permanent connected to the batterie BEFORE any power is applied from pannel or windgen.
If batterie is disconnected it will destroy the regulators. 
So read manuals on which side of the switch the regulator has to be connected.

Hi,

After getting bored to set alarms for refill we placed a magnet into the rod and two reed switches in the scale, connected to our board controller.
By that we get an alarm at refill close to overflow and an alarm when closing low level.

Our 54 has a major design flaw. Or it’s not protected against stupidity, take your pick.
Anyway I managed for the third time now to overflow the fresh water tank while refilling. The problem is that the water does not simply overflows through the filler cap. Instead it gushes out of the level meter pipe next to the companionway right into the main saloon bilge that has no drain. Oops.
Anyone else has the same problem?

I have two of the original fresh water pumps that I am not using. We have gone to an on-demand pump.  They both functioned last time I tested them, but I don’t know what shape they are in now..  I believe both could be resurrected, or at least be a good source of parts.

However since we were going to upgrade the rest of the shrouds at the main, we decided to take care of this also so we don it have any questionable or potentially weak areas at the main.

"Nicky" from Malta is what you meant to say. I always recommend Nicky Samut in Malta for any Med rigging issues. I suspect that Nicky has a lot of air miles. During the winter season he will be in Sicily at least 2 weeks working on rigging. He has also upgraded Bamar furlers. And, Nicky is a Yacht School Preferred Vendor, the only rigger in Europe selected as a rigging Preferred Vendor.

The diesel dipstick works very accurately when it matters - with low fuel. A few months ago it read around 3 litres left in the tank and no problems.

For fellow Americans --

If you didn't already know: you can claim a substantial tax credit for solar on your Amel. You can get 30% of the solar installation cost back as a tax credit. The incentive will decrease for solar installed in 2020 and 2021, and then it'll cease to exist (for residential) in 2022. I'm pretty sure the incentive applies retroactively too, but I'm not completely sure.

We successfully got 30% of our costs back for our 2018 solar panel installation.

Bill, there is a lever next to the point where the throttle cable connects to the engine.  Lift/ twist the lever and it cuts off the fuel supply just like the shut off solenoid would if there was power.

I painted mine bright pink(only highvis color available in Marin) so other crew could find it fast.

Very appreciated. We’re in fine shape to make it to New Zealand I think. Just looking ahead to the anticipated desire to get it done. So no pressure to do it here in Tahiti thank goodness. NZ seems like the place. But we’re considering also the potential hurricane pit in Fiji as a off season storage location. NZ is as enticing as the voyage there is off putting/crapshoot. As they say nothing points to weather like a 767.

Earlier  on in my passage from Madeira I had a problem with the Genoa furler. It turned out to be the motor. I switched it for the staysail one which is like new, so I could carry on my voyage.

Now I need to decide how to proceed. The defective motor is shorting on its windings and I can see a strand that is actually broken.

The question is:

To send to rewind shop for repair

Or to buy new?

Or to buy one from another Amel owner who has upgraded to newer better furlers and who has the old ones?

Yes, mine's the same - seems the stick is a bit off.  Only tempted the fates once and ran down to about 20 liters and got away with it.
