Re: Berth in Lisbon area
Joerg Esdorn
Thanks very much for the responses. I am waitlisted at cascais, Oreias and Parque Naciones marinas but I was hoping someone had a permanent berth anywhere in Lisbon and was not using it currently. I’ve been told that the marinas sometimes fail to keep track of vacant permanent berth and do not rent them out.

Re: Color number for SM2K Redline
Thanks Bill We have the correct official sample of AwlGrip Desert Sand here at Vuda Point. As you know the painters in Durban got the "Desert Sand" colour wrong on our new hull side stripe when we lifted the waterline in South Africa. Now that we have new sails to put up (with the new Amel trim colour) we will re-paint the hull side stripe with the correct
AwlGrip Desert Sand paint at the end of our circumnavigation in Australia before we sell. On a different issue - the "Amel Brown trim" - after 8 years of careful ownership we eventually got used to (and now actually like) the blue floors, and bright colourful curtains, but we could never quite come to terms with the less than appealing "Brown" which Amel chose for side trim rails on all Super Maramu's! Because of this, we first tried a white trim (whilst in Thailand), as Amel did on the last 10 Amel 54's, but whilst that actually looks very nice on the 54, it never looked quite right on the Supermaramu against the Amel off-white gelcoat. We had seen one nice looking Supermaramu with white trim, but later noticed that they had actually "screwed in" a Stainless Steel bead/rod all the way along inside the white trim areas, and we were certainly not prepared to do this. Based on this, whilst waiting for weather in Durban, we tried painting the brown trim with an "incorrectly mixed/coloured" Desert Sand. It looks barely OK, ...but not great...... and so we now wonder if even the correct Desert Sand colour would look any better on the side trim than the dreaded brown? The original Amel "Red Line" series trim colour was never to our liking either, almost too sharp a colour we felt, ... but we thought it worth having another look at the correct colour which Amel chose. Failing all, and since we will soon be selling anyway, we may well simply go back to the original brown, but perhaps a shade or two lighter? Has anyone out there repainted this trim in a colour which they feel is an enhancement on the original Amel brown? Re: B&G Hydra 3000 True wind direction
Wolfgang,
The picture here shows the configuration I have currently on Stella. The heading data from PG500 is received by the master MFD on data port 3. I have connected port 2 output to the Hydra to deliver GPS and heading data which is used by the Hydra. This last connection was made by me when my GP150 failed. My original installation by Amel/Pochon had the GP150 delivering GPS data to the Hydra, but no physical connection to deliver heading data. You will likely need to find a way to make this connection. Hope that makes sense! Dean SY Stella A54-154

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Alternator replacement
There are 8 NIB voltage regulator regulators (model 8RL3021 105-351 new in box) , presently available on eBay https://www.ebay.com/p/18020353785 . Although they are listed at $29 but they did accept an offer for $19 (includes shipping). This is the OEM voltage regulator for the Leece-Neville 24V 175 AMP alternator 8SC3009ZA. The 8RL3021 may have been superseded by the 8RL3024S but its price is around $80.

Re: Canvas work in Eastern Med
Hello Nick, I had a refit completed to a catamaran 60 foot by Lantana Canvas family in Marmaris and Gocek in 2017, they did 16,000 euros of work from couches, covers, bedding and awnings etc, I was more than happy with their work and handling of the project that we both work together on and their prices were very acceptable following negotiations and the best I have found in the eastern med and perhaps the western med also

One of the best upholstery guys we have run into is a guy by the name of Ebrahim in Didim Turkey.
He made a full winter cover for us in 3 pieces that has held up as new after 5 seasons of use in the Med where 50+ knots of wind are common. He also made a memory foam mattress for the master that has given us many great nights of sleep. As honest as they
come, a physics professor and a good guy.
We also referred another Suoer Maramu owner friend of ours that replaced all of his cushions and was very happy.

Joerg hi john is right Cascais anchorage is excellent, the bottom is sandy, very good and i spent there dozens of weekends. It will be uncomfortable with southwest winds, but the Cascais marina when the weather is very bad allows you to dock at the waiting pier. I'll try in Cascais marina to get a berth for you but next monday What is the name of your boat ? José Alegria

Annapolis Boat Show--Harmonie Open Boat--Oct 12
Karen Smith
In addition to the other meet-ups around the Annapolis Boat show, we will be hosting an "open boat" onboard Harmonie SM160 from 4 to 8PM on Saturday Oct 12. We are docked at Burt Jabin's Yacht Yard, a short water taxi (or dinghy!) ride from the boat show in Back Creek Annapolis. Refreshments will be served...
Harmonie is fresh from a summer cruising Atlantic Canada so great cruising stories will be available to swap. We'll likely be in the middle of some projects, so the boat might not be in showroom shape, but it will be a more informative visit for all that! RSVP to kls6917 (at) aol.com Looking forward to seeing our fellow Amel owners (and potential owners)! Karen Smith & Bill Kinney S/V Harmonie SM160 http://fetchinketch.net

Joerg,
We stayed in the Cascais marina last year, and there was a fairly large anchorage just outside the entrance. I have no knowledge of the holding, but there were some large boats there.

Charles, Initially I reserved a table for 8 then 12 and a couple of days ago called and asked if we could get a table for 16 . We now have 15 coming ,so I guess we can squeeze in 17 ,so please join us. I will not ,even if possible try to get a larger table ,I don't think they want to hear from me again. So if anyone else would like to come ,please just show up and you probably can get a table nearby,we will be upstairs.

Re: B&G Hydra 3000 True wind direction
Hi Wolfgang,
I noticed exactly the same problem when I bought Stella. I’m pretty sure that my system was configured as original from Amel. (Previous owner did not change anything). I cannot find out right now exactly what source setting I used in the Hydra, but I’m fairly sure it’s not 16. BUT the important thing is that you need to make sure that the Navnet3D system is actually connected to, AND is sending out heading data to the Hydra. This is configured in the setup/installation process, and on my boat this was not turned on by Amel/Pochon. So, in short the process is: 1. Find out which NMEA data Out port on the master MFD is physically connected to the Hydra. 2. Make sure the MFD is configured to send heading data on that port. 3. Set up the Hydra to use that data. I’m sorry I cannot tell you which port numbers to use because I’m travelling at the moment. Regardless, your boat may not be wired exactly as mine, so you should go through the process yourself. Hop that helps a bit. Regards Dean SY Stella A54-154 Sent from my iPhone X
