Yes I have both and both are useful BUT I don’t seem to be able to get tidal streams [current and direction] live time on I Navx. I have ‘Aye tides” but this only gives depths and not tidal streams live time. Europe is the area I am interested in at the moment.

Any ideas?

As I have C-map on Furuno Navnet and Maxsea , the Navionics are good on the tablet. Navionics gave information of the inlets of the US Eastcoast where C-map shows zero !
This year a catamaran hit a reef not shown on Navionics - always have several informations in these places.Don't miss the papercharts at the Exumas, Bahamas.

Hi Paul,

John and I attended the Navigation Apps seminar at the Annapolis Boat Show last week.

The speaker’s (a former US Coast Guard captain) top recommendation was iNavX. He based this on accuracy, integration with other navigation software (including Navionics) and (as I recall) weather software, as well as all around versatility.

I’ve included the link here:

I took notes and would be pleased to provide them if you’re interested, ASSUMING, that I can still find them in my collection of “show stuff” and can read my back-of-the-envelope chicken scratch!

Paul,

Are you sure the part you have seen at Sea Power Marine is for the MDKD genset?  That is a model significantly older and rather different than the one on your boat.  They also state on their website that they do not ship outside the UK (in fact, they exclude a lot of the UK from their sales territory!)

There was a vendor on EBay that made beautiful cast stainless exhaust elbows for Yanmars. Much better than the factory version. I have one Kimberlite  and it is flawless. Possibly someone can find them and ask is the do,  or will make the elbow you need.

Keran, Mark,

If anyone winds up having a genset exhaust elbow made,  I would like to have one also.  Maybe added numbers will reduce the unit cost.

Re: SM2K: Replacing a CLIMMA 9EH AC unit in the Salon #replacement

Nick,

Congratulations! I know the SMs on either side of 476.

BTW, I travel the world. I have clients in France, all of Europe, New Zealand, Australia, USA, and many other places. I travelled to New Caledonia to train an owner new to Amel.

If it is impossible to repair (I doubt that), I would buy another Climma Compact Unit. Climma Compact Units routinely last 20 years, yet there are those that change brands because if failed. Climma and Frigoboat, both VECO companies, were Henri Amels choice. I think he was right.

The unit took me about 2 hours to install. I installed mine in the aft cabin .On 90 degree days it can cool my cabin like a meat locker.
There is larger unit if you think you need more BTU'S, It is the same size. The thermostat is digital and whats really great as it has a phone type cord connecting the sensor on the coil to the thermostat.

That looks very complicated.
We have one line, 24-30 mm diameter, with a spliced eye that fits on the center cleet, and then a fixed lengt with a hook in the end.

Dear Thomas, dear Ameliens,

after 3 weeks on the anchor I have to take back my thoughts for the hooks on the bow roller. The rope (for the anchor chain) is now clearly reduced. The diameter of the hooks are to small. You have to take an extra protection or binding the rope a bit to side.
Any other ideas for the hooks?
