Re: What is this black gasket
Patrick McAneny
Bill , Might the gasket fit over the threaded opening and rest on top of the reservoir and the cap tighten down on top of it ,I see black marks on the bottom of the cap as though it had been in contact with the rubber gasket. Not the typical gasket/cap contact point , but may be. Does the gasket fit over the threaded part of the reservoir ? The diameter looks about right .

I think I have seen this gasket before.
Any help would be appreciated.

I am amazed that you found a US source for these boxes! Thanks for sharing, I have added this information to my Sueno file. I will be in Florida myself pretty soon and will follow up. I agree with what you said about the cooling fins not being needed since our usage is of short duration. Thanks, James SV Sueno Maramu #220

Hi Bill. I would suggest it goes under the cap. Sometimes the material used expands with age. Regards and wishing you and Judy all the best for Christmas and the new year. I hope your new career alows you some time to enjoy yourselves. Danny SM 299 Ocean Pearl

Re: Maramu Gearbox identification
James,
I got mine from US Distributor: Drivetech Automation; 5401 NW 102nd Ave #146; Sunrise, FL33351 954.746.9800. They were $220 each plus tax & shipping (a few years ago). You will have to grind off some of the cooling fins on the mainsail furler to fit it inside the mast (at least on my SN). This is what AMEL did, I'm sure and it has no effect on the operation (the fins would only be needed for high speed continuous operation in an industrial application). You will need to reuse the delrin mounts and, as I recall, you need to bore a couple of holes in the cover to match the delrin block. You can add Zerk grease fittings if you wish. Good luck with it, Craig

Re: vetus coupling removal
Herbert Lackner
finally removed it. what you need is a puller, a hammer and 6 hours :-) . alignment was easy then using the tool.
santorin owners with a shaft alternator: the "special tool" should be 45 mm longer than for the SM, due to the pulley of the shaft alternator. it still works but would be better if I had made it longer. herbert

Welcome Walter
I bought 3 years ago a Sharki also. My build number #60 is also from 1982. Most instructions I got from the internet and was found with Google. These old boats are differently equipped. It depends what the previous ownsers have done or not done. If you have still the original autopilot Neco 692 I can give you the manual for download. I have also the Perkins manual and the B&G manual. Meanwhile you can download the electric scheme from here: https://topperdiek.de/dl/Amel/Electric/SharkiElectric.zip Tell me if you want the other manual also and what else you need. -- Gerhard Mueller Amel Sharki #60 Currently Kalamata, Greece

Hi Janine and Walter,
welcome here in this great group and good time with your wonderful ship :-). I'm the proud owner of the 1981 Sharki Baghira (Nr: 42). I attach two manuals for the Perkins 4108. In GB are some good addresses for spare parts. When you need the addresses, I will be sending you the contact. But I'm searching for a manual for the original autopilot with panel etc. myself. So, when somebody can help us, I'm very happy, too. Good way and careful wind Ralf

Re: refrigeration compressor
Mark & Debbie Mueller
Hi Jeff,
On our boat the compressor is mounted underneath the refrigerator, underneath the chest refrigerator/freezer, and to the port side of the refrigerator/freezer under the salon seat. The Danfoss compressor controller is attached to the side of each compressor.
To gain access to the refrigerator compressor remove the “thumbscrew” on the inside of the under sink cabinet, it is toward the top. I believe the unit will slide forward into the small under floor storage area between the refrigerator and chest. I do not remember if there are any attachment points at the bottom of the refrigerator. To access the chest compressor remove the trim panel at the floor at the base of the chest and you will be able to reach in to access the compressor. To get to the under seat unit remove the salon seat cushion at the port side of the boat then remove the wood cover on the aft port side. You may be able to check voltage at the pump interface in the engine compartment to determine if you have a relay problem or Danfoss controller problem. Refer to the attached schematic from Coastal Climate Control for the interconnection of the relays. Good luck. -- Mark Mueller Brass Ring A54

If you are referring to the freezer under the saloon dining table seat the compressor is in the compartment next to it under the corner seat. For the chest freezer under the galley worktop the compressor is below it. Nick Amelia AML 54-019 Greece
