Re: Recommentation for Sharki second autopilot
Aras <aras.grinius@...>
On my Sharki I have a Simrad AP28 CONTROLLER, RAYMARINE MOTOR mounted just above in the galley. It came with the boat. I also had a 2nd unit which was a RAYMARINE 3000 wheel mount.
I trashed the 3000. The mount interfered with helmsman, and was only good in calm conditions.

Re: Damp in Sharki aft Cabin bulkhead
We had the same problem with our Mango. The source was water ingress through the mizzen, following the cables of the radar and the vhf. These pass through an opening in the bulkhead and can be inspected by removing the mirror in the aft heads. Possibly this is the same in the sharki.

Yes we have that problem. And have tried waterweld in the corners of each cavity. It has made a difference.

Re: Super Maramu 2000 - Water in bilge hall way compartment
Lucy & Chris, More than likely the water accumulation is because the bow thruster needs servicing with tube seal replacements, or you have sailed the boat without using the locking pin to secure the bow thruster in the UP position, or maybe you sailed with the bow thruster in the DOWN position. Whatever the cause, the accumulated water is likely not the only thing you need to address. Things like seals, rust on the base of the motor, and possibly a bow thruster tube frozen to the base of the motor. I don't mean to scare you, but you probably need some help. Maybe we should discuss this. I offer 1 hour of consulting at no cost to you: 1 hour free consulting Let me know. brouse@... --

Re: Super Maramu 2000 - Water in bilge hall way compartment
You can buy in-expensive battery powered water alarms from Amazon. Place one in this compartment and you will get a quick reminder when you leave the bow thruster down, un-pinned or the seals no longer keep the water out. If you really bash into the waves for a while, some sea water may be forced past the bow thruster seals even when they keep it out in other conditions. Best regards, Daniel Carlson on sv BeBe, SM#387

The seacock should be the sea water intake for the toilet. If you have closed the sea cock the pump won’t work.

YES check all the hoses and connections, of course.
I'm very curious to know what goes on in that compartment! What's the black seacock for? And the yellow/black hose and the orange thingy and the black bizzo with the wires attached. The only things I recognise are the white hose and the speed and depth xdcrs! Cheers...and Happy New Year ! Alan Elyse SM437

Re: Super Maramu 2000 - Water in bilge hall way compartment
Sorry to hear you’re having water in your bilge, Lucy&Chris.
Tom is right on all counts, fortunately it has been rare for others to have the sink plumbing failures...here are a couple other tips: EverySM owner has experienced this at some time in his/her ownership. The vast majority of the time it is the bow thruster. If the water tastes salty, that’s almost certainly the problem. If not, a leak from the anchor wash pump. If it’s not salty, condensate from the forward AC that gets out of the pan (it’s supposed to drain into the grey water piping), or a leak in the shower or sink plumbing. Be sure to clean and rinse the bilge well, so that you’ll be able to do the “taste test” the next time you find water there. The seacock in the bilge there is where sea water enters the head and the anchor wash. Another thing you will find is that when heeled over some of that water will slosh over the stringers where it is unreachable. The next time you’re heeled over some will slosh back into that part of the bilge again. Per Danny’s wise recommendation, I keep an old towel there to catch that sloshed water until it isn’t showing up any more. If it is the most-likely bow thruster, there are good posts and files here that will help you adjust the up- limit of the thruster (if you’re lucky that’s all you’ll have to do), and change the seals. Be sure to raise the thruster before you motor or sail at more than a knot or two, as that can deform the lip seal around the carbon fiber tube that houses the shaft and exits the boat. Other than age (most change the oil and seals every 2 years at haulout for bottom painting) I think forgetting to raise the thruster is likely the cause of leaking. Happy New Year to All!!! Other possibilities include the forward air conditioner condensate and plumbing related to the sink. In my case, it was all four of those, each solved one at a time. Tom Peacock SM 240 Aletes Martinique On Dec 30, 2019, at 9:11 PM, Lucy Pearce sv Starfish via Groups.Io <lucyannepearce@...> wrote:

Super Maramu 2000 - Water in bilge hall way compartment
Lucy Pearce sv Starfish
Hi
We have found a fair amount of water in the bilge compartment under the hallway between the forward head and cabin.(where the depth sounder and speed gauge are located) The toilet pump has stopped working, whether this is because of the water in there, or whether a broken pump has caused water to accumulate here I don’t know. Does anyone know what the valve/stopcock is in this bilge compartment or offer any advice? many thanks in advance Lucy and Chris Starfish HIN 238 Super Maramu 2000

Re: Damp in Sharki aft Cabin bulkhead
Hi Mark, it is one of the problems of that series of boats. In the holes under the mizzen tends to stagnate the water and after years there are infiltrations that wet the whole balsa sandwich and also the bulkhead of the aft cabin. The best thing is to eliminate the rotten part and rebuild the bottom using epoxy resin and fiberglass. To work well, make an opening in the lower part, under the original hole. I attach photos. The same goes for the three lockers below which often have the same problem.

I'm looking to get a new pin for my propeller shaft. Alban from AMEL in Martinique wants to make one, but doesn't have the measures. Does any of you, dear Amelean, have one in spare or a plan / know the measures? The Super Maramu and 54 have the same shaft / pin.

Re: Recommentation for Sharki second autopilot
Hi Warren,
the autopilot drive is connected to the steering wheel. It is a rotary drive from Autohelm and was installed originally by Amel when MickMoon was build in 1989. This autopilot does work quite well with some limitations on strong winds and wave from the back. The more modern autopilots will do much better as they do have modern motion sensors and better software. Regards, Volker Puchta MickMoon Sharki#176
