Re: How To Replace Aft Head Sink Faucet
As I remember it, it is obvious...can't help you any more than this. Maybe someone else who is aboard an SM will respond.

Re: How To Replace Aft Head Sink Faucet
Thanks for the quick reply. My message didn't explain the problem correctly. My bad.. Having rebuilt my house I do know how to replace a sink. My dillema is gaining access to the underside of the sink to make the pipe connections. I may have mixed up the real issue since I'm not on the boat. If it should be obvious, don't worry about it. I'll figure it out. I was just trying to get a heads up prior to arriving. Regards Bill Shaproski S/V Pacific Cool

Main Sail Outhaul and Furling Gearbox Bonfiglioli VF44P1-70 P63 B14 B3
I have a Super Maramu from 1995 OO30017SM141. The mainsail furling gearbox apparently failed and needs replacement. The desision to remove the unit was made by my maintenance guy since I am on the west coast and the boat is on the east coast. I ordered a new one and when it arrived it was not from Bonfiglioli and was not interchangeable. I haven't been able to find one that could be delivered by 20 June which is when I need to have it. Does anyone have a serviceable gearbox they want to sell or know where I could get one deliverd to Florida by 20 June?
Thanks in advance for any help. Regards Bill Shaproski S/V Pacific Cool

Re: Converting my Amel 54 to lithium batteries: what I did, what I like and what I don't like (after one year of full time live aboard use)
Lior Keydar
Dear Scott
First, thank you very much also from me for sharing your project. As you see, it is very interesting for so many people. I am also thinking about replacing the batteries to lithium and would go your way. About the electric cables, I saw that you need 2x 50 mm2 (2x plus and 2x minus). I think that both exist already. One pair for my 2500W inverter and one for the 100A Dolphin charger. They both 50mm2 (or more). The cables for the 30A are 40mm2. - did you install the Skylla-i 80 amp just as a backup? would the 2x 40mm2 of the Dolphin 30A be enough? - what did I not understand correct with the electric cables? Thanks Lior, A54 #18

I just replaced the dimmer in my like-new 1985 Mercedes. The part looks very well made and the original lasted 35 years. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Mercedes-Potentiometer-Control-of-Instrument-Lighting-dash-lights-dimmer/122327483999?fits=Model%3A300SD&epid=1223398404&hash=item1c7b49465f:g:Nt4AAOSwU91aejRc

Re: diruptors
Breakers are typically single pole or double pole and vary in amp load capability. Most of the AC breakers on your SM are double pole, switching when you are connected to EU type power, the Hot Brown wire, and the Return Blue wire. You have at least 1 double pole DC breaker for the SSB. If there is a short in a Diruptor circuit, the breaker will not reset. In the US the AC double pole breakers are typically used to switch 2 legs of 110-115VAC. The Neutral (White) is typically not switched. If you are using US type power, the SM AC breakers will switch both US type legs of the AC power as long as you wire the US type AC shore power plug correctly. Bill

Does anyone have a source for the 680 ohm wire wound potentiometer that dims the light in the compass? I contemplating changing the circuit to get away from needing that type of potentiometer

That was an excellent meeting Bill. Many thanks to you, Gary Golden, and Tilo for putting it on. I liked the concept of insuring against an agreed upon value for total loss. Using depreciated value almost always leads to lengthy battles with your insurer over what they will pay for. Looking forward to what Gary comes back to the group with regarding Amel Group insuring options.

Hello Bill, Not sure I really understood the question. Did you mean how many amp? If so, look at my links below. All the disruptor on the 24 Volt panel are “single” http://nikimat.com/diruptor_24_volt_panel.html All the disruptor on the 220 Volt panel are “Double” http://nikimat.com/diruptor_220_volt_panel.html Sincerely, Alexandre

I recently replaced one of my diruptors. I fortunately have a sizable inventory but there is no information as to what goes where. Some are single and some are double units and the Amel provided diagrams (they are unfortunately not schematics) do not specify the type or location of each breaker. Opening the electric boxes which contain the diruptors is not helpful as the information on the breaker is blocked by the breaker beside it. Does anyone have a file or list that indicates the size and location of the diruptors? I recently went through all the diruptors on my boat and found several that were not normally cycled that once tripped would not reset and needed replacing. Any information out there?Bill Reynolds CloudStreet SM2K 331
