I installed a Dometic unit in my aft cabin. 10k btus.

It is a very simple installation. I have had it 2 years now. It was almost a plug and play install. Fair Winds, Eric SM 376 Kimberlite

Just pulled into Huntington NY this morning. 8 days 22 hours from St Thomas. Kimberlite's 70,000 mile anniversary. The Gulf Stream was a pill. 30-45 knots easterly in the stream. When we fell off wave after wave I was so happy to own an Amel. It sure makes one heck of a sound. Nothing broken, everyone on board is well. Keep up the good work. Fair Winds, Eric

Lubrication of the Mechanism That Drives The Main Sail Furling Unit
There is black grease leaking from the the mechanism that you put the winch handle into to furl the main sail in or out when the gearbox and motor are disconnected. If I disassemble the unit by removing the bolts holding it together, is it going to require some complicated reassembly. Any help with how to grease that unit are much appreciated. I have a 1995 Super Maramu.
BTW, I found a brand new Bonfiglioli gearbox for the furling unit in a small town in The Netherlands. The price was only about $125. Furthermore it came with the shaft installed through theunit with a head piece that mates with the furler. I planned to use the shaft from the unit being removed, but it was seized in the unit. All other gearboxes I have found are in the $350 to $550 range. The Netherlands company is PLC2DAY.com Tele: +31-161-416125. They said that they had one more in stock. It's listed as used, but it's brand new. Regards, Bill Shaproski

Re: Microwave oven on Amel 54
Hi Nick, If it’s the same round microwave rack since 1999 we have a extra one on Aletes that we persistently need to find places to store. You are welcome to it, that is if we can remember where we stowed it last. I am not on the boat. From memory the diameter looks the same but the height on ours seems a little lower. I would also take the rubber cap off of the valeo solenoid and spry some corrosion x in it . work the button a few times and spray again.

Alex,
I can certainly take the normal consumables – filters, impellors, 1 belt. Most of the other items I don’t see that I’ll need in the foreseeable future as my engine has only 1975 hours. So if you still have any of these in November when we’re back in Grenada then I’d be happy to take them.

Re: air conditioning maramu
Hi Jacob,
I do think it would be fine to "T" off the engine raw-water intake to feed the A/C, especially if you'll only be using the A/C on shore power. If, though, you have a generator to power the A/C and plan to run it and the main engine together I suppose there could be insufficient water flow for both and you'd want a separate thru-hull for the A/C. In my case a prior owner had already installed another thru-hull for a water maker and I just ran a "T" off that for the A/C cooling water. He also installed a 6kw generator (with dedicated thru-hull) and we have on very rare occasions run the generator for A/C while we were motoring up the ICW in oppressive summer heat (and actually ran it all night at anchor - yikes, we're a trawler!) So I've got 8 thru-hulls for: 1. Main engine, 2. Generator, 3. A/C & Water maker combined and 4. Refrigeration. Plus, of course, 5 & 6. Toilet intakes and 7 & 8. Toilet discharges. Good luck with it, Craig

Thanks Craig.
I take you were able to use the existing raw-water through-hull then? Or did you need to add new a through-hull? Thanks! Jacob Champness svlark.com Maramu #42 Brunswick, GA

Re: FW: Replacement HP hoses for Dessalator - UPDATE
Should be OK if 3/8” is indeed the fitting size you need. A 3/8” fitting is larger than 3/8”. You can google NPT fitting dimensions. On previous boat, only one fitting swiveled. Both swiveling is OK, a bit easier to assemble.

Re: replacing mirrors in bathroom
Lior Keydar
Dear Alex
I replaced all the 5 mirrors on my A54 two years ago. It was a big challenge to remove the glued mirror from the bathroom at the back. I did it with a string between the mirrors and the wood wall. There is a special thin and coarse string that is special made for it. I did not get it so I use a very thin metal string that was not so coarse. It took me a few hours to remove it. I have ordered the same glas mirrors in size and glued it with silicon. Best regards Lior A54 #18

Bill, I just put in 3’ so I could get a rough cost. I haven’t actually measured it yet. You’re very observant.

I do not know about the length. A SM with a D160 with membranes in the ceiling needs about 6' for each. Remember one hose is connected at the back of the control panel.
The rest looks good to me, just questioning length.
