Re: A54 fridge circulation pump

Arno Luijten
Hi Scott,
Hope you are doing well. I've looked into this problem as well. I tried to find an alternate waterpump but the 12 Volt/1-1.5 Amp requirement is not easy to satisfy. Replacing the motor with a brushless one is a very clever idea. Finding a suitable motor is not so easy though. Most of them require some external controller making installation complicated and a bit prone to errors. Also I'm not too happy with an untested motor/controller combo. What happens if this goes south somewhere in the Pacific. So careful selection of fuses is the least to do for this solution. Personally I would love to find a motor suitable for this application with integrated controller but I'm still searching. Until then I just keep a number of these Flojet pumps on stock and live with the life-expectancy.

Re: Installation of Electric oven with induction cooktop

Barry Connor
Hi Michael,
Yes you are correct, the top of the oven that attaches to the gimballs can be removed from our Eno. I might finish up buying separately an electric oven and induction cook top and attaching both to the separate gimballed frame. Our microwave is working fine and I think the inside of a convection microwave would be too small to have under the cooking hob.
Thanks again for the photos, I am getting some good ideas as I don't think I can buy what we want.

Hi all, I've seen a few posts where people talk about using a slide hammer. I've never used one, but I run across projects regularly where I think one would be useful. Can anyone guide me in choosing one, size, useful attachments, anything else that might be helpful? I would be using it primarily for projects on the boat. Re: A54 fridge circulation pump
We just had another Flojet pump die. This time after 5 months. Even better, it seems the Flojet 4105-343 pump we have been using is discontinued. I will take the leap to try Oliver's brushless pump solution. Oliver - I just ordered the aliexpress pump/controller that you mentioned and would love to see your video. I sent an email a few months back but never heard back from you. Be great if you could post the fridge pump installation video on Youtube for everyone to see! One thing that may become an issue is that the diaphragm part of the Flojet pump (which is repurposed for Oliver's setup) is also a wear part. I know someone who uses Flojet pumps in their coffee business and his pumps die when the diaphragms fail. Good thing I have a handful of used diaphragms from my multiple failed Flojets. :) Anyone else try Oliver's solution (or any other pump) and succeed? -- Scott 2007 A54 #69 SV Tengah http://www.svtengah.com

We have changed to the same cook top as Delos and then we added a convection oven.
To support with electricity we have 5x367W solar panels and a wind generator. Our inverter is a Studer 4000W but we have not changed to lithium batteries. Still using wet golf cart batteries. And it is working perfect. We runn everything except dish washer, washing machine and AC on the solar.
If we want to watch a video in the evening, using video projector and a mini PC, we are running the diesel gen to not drain the batteries to much.
Normally after a night we have used about 65Ah that is re-charged around 11 am. Regards Ann-Sofie & Jonas S/Y Lady Annila, SM #232, 1998.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for your note.
I did see a Delos video where they changed to Lithium. I could not see that they replaced the old LP gas oven with an Electric oven which had the Induction cooktop attached. I already have a portable induction cook top which is fantastic. What I am trying ti find is a combination electric oven with the induction top attached which will fit into the same space as the Eno fitted LP gas oven. Force 10 sell an electric oven with regular electric cooktop hob which fits the space exactly. Miele have an electric fan forced oven with an induction cooktop, this unit is too big for the space.

Has anyone changed the gimballed LP gas oven/LP gas cooktop to a gimballed Electric oven with Induction hob cooktop? We are looking for a replacement that will fit in the same space. Our searches are only showing electric oven with electric cooktop that will fit, we can not find anything with an Induction Hob Cooktop. Does anyone know why we can not find this combination Would it be possible if necessary to get the electric oven and then attach or change the top to an Induction Hob Cooktop?

I believe they did separate units cook top and oven. The Delos owners do respond on Facebook and are part of this group. Reach out to them. I am sure they would share their experience with you

Re: Blocked fwd shower drain on amel 55.

Joerg Esdorn
Hi Billy, welcome to ownership of a great boat! On my boat, the shower also seems to drain slower than the sink but it hasn’t clogged. Both drains feed into just one hose so the problem you are experiencing must be before the junction with the sink drain. I have used a small snake which has improved the shower drain. Good luck!
