Re: Color code of hull Amel 54
Unfortunately, all I have with some certainty for the 54 is the Red color which is RAL 3003 Ruby Red. I suggest you ask SAV"@"amel.fr. Also, there are numerous colors on the "hull & deck." You need to be specific. I believe the 54 has 4 separate gelcoat colors. If you get all of these from Amel, please post here and share the information with all 54 owners. Bill

An owner just made an inquiry about the rub rail purchase, by going back to a post back in Feb. under subject titled “Rub rail insert ,“which brought it to the forefront . Please ,if interested in the new group buy respond to the recent post titled “Rub rail purchase” or better yet email me personally. I will not monitor the old Feb. post, nor respond to it. Thanks,

Re: Rub Rail insert
Patrick McAneny
Rob, Maude at Amel said I needed two 16 meter pieces, which is 52.5 feet ,so I am going to purchase two 53 ft. lengths or 106 ft. The 104 came from a post I read months ago and is too short. To follow Gary’s suggestion, I guess you could push the insert every foot after installed to compress it . I also will leave a couple inches at the stern end run long and install permanently and make final cut when the temperature cools to 40 or 50 F. If you decide to join in the group buy email personally with your info. We should try to reduce posts to the Amel site.
Thanks, Pat Shenanigans #123

Re: A54: Cable length between main mast head and chart table
Sv Garulfo
Hi Arno, With antenna connected up the mast, we needed ~19.60m +/- 50cm of cable to get to the junction. Sorry about the low precision but I’m only confident about the overall length from antenna to the nav station because it was easy to measure the surplus. Hope that helps Thomas GARULFO A54-122 Tahiti

Pat,
Two real highlights of La Rochelle. 1. The regional market on Wednesdays & Saturdays. In the market square there a wine merchant called Jean Marie Floret who officially stocks the new Amels with complementary wine, he only delivers at high tide so that he has a horizontal walkway to your boat! 2. As an existing Amel owner , then, the guided tour of the factory an experience you will never forget. Have a great trip. Best regards, Trevor Lusty Ireland

The Shore Power Ground Fault Interrupt is much more sensitive than the GFI main breaker on your SM. And the dishwasher will heat water until it gets hot enough to open small cracks in the heating element that will be present in any heating element this age.

Re: Rub Rail insert
I am interested in getting new rub rails as well. Have a couple of questions...
Gary Silver said " When you install it you want to make sure that it is installed in compression because it does shrink a bit". How do you do that? Also he said it may shrink and I see you are ordering 104 feet. Should we order a little bigger to offset any shrinkage or have you included that in your size estimate (please don't take any offense, I haven't measured the rubrail personally). I have SM328 Thank you

Re: Masse negative leak
Thanks everyone for your advice. I am anchored of Mikanos and it is cranking up to 40kn. My spade anchor is holding but I am reluctant to start taking cables off the battery switch. However I have made a thick plastic insulator cover that I have taped over the positive cables terminals to the red handle switch. So I can now work safely in the compartment.

This is a very common issue. The water heating element needs replacing and as far as I know, there are none available. Another owner stated he was going to have one made in Hong Kong where his SM is located. Possibly he will answer this.

Dear Nick
I had also electrical leak that came from the bow thruster. It came, like Thomas wrote, from the carbon dust. I opened the cover of the bow thruster, cleaned it with a small clean painting brush and it solved the problem. Best Lior A54 #18

Dishwasher shore power main breaker off
#galley
Hello,
last time when connected to shore power I have used dishwasher and after one minute all the power went off. Including the shore power unit. This did not happened when running air conditioning or washing machine. Interesting enough I have turned on generator put the power on and dishwasher was running without interruption. Power was on all the time. Next time I tried again and shore power went off, again generator ok. Before going in to deep investigation is there any idea on the forum what might be the issue? Grounding is one that comes to my mind than you.. -- Slavko SM 2000 #279

Hi Thomas and Soraya,
Do you know the distance between the mast head and the connection point just above the door to the guest room? Regards, Arno Luijten
