I fitted yesterday Ultra 45 kg + Ultra swivel + 100 m @ 10 mm chain. It fits perfectly on bow roller and you can keep Wasi 30 kg on port side roller.

Kalimera! Dimitris,

you stated, the 45 kg anchor fits with the 54 bow roller arrangement. Did you fitted it together with the UM swivel and on a10 mm chain. all together matched fine?

THX for your experienced response, very appreciated.

On this forum I am not the only one to think that the original anchor (articulated) is not terrible. I will therefore replace it with an Ultra Marine anchor of 35 or 45kg which on this forum gives great satisfaction.
The company Ultra Marine offers me a particularly attractive price for a group purchase of 10 anchors.

If you are interested in this anchor, I suggest you join this group purchase on http: // www.cottonbay.fr/U_a.php

I specify that the commercial relationship will be between you and Ultramarine, I am only offering this possibility of group purchase here.

Hi Bill,

did you ever hear of problems with full batten sails? The main and the mizzen of Mago del Sur are full batten sails. Up to know we had no problems furling them in and out no matter what conditions we met.
But we registered play at the fixing bolts at the bases of both foils of main and mizzen. The size of both foils is 35 mm. Up to now they are not reinforced with this aluminum profiles. We plan to do this during the next days.

Re: C-Drive drain plug

Ryan Meador

We also just did our C drive maintenance yesterday and discovered that the crush washer (we have one) and O-ring that Maud sent us are too big for our drain plug.  I contacted her earlier today about this, will let you know what she says.  Two years ago when we did this, we just reused the old washer and O-ring because we didn't have spares.  No leaks -- our oil level never changed, and the stuff that came out yesterday looked so pure I was tempted to put it back in again.

Pat, yes, but in my experience, 100% of the sealing is done by the O Ring. I believe that whether or not you need a washer depends on the vertical alignment of the V notch bolt.

Re: Original inverter on SM 2000

Stephan Regulinski

All, when we bought SM 303 “Delos” new in 2000, it had a “convertisseur” factory installed in the engine room with a switch below the speaker in the galley. We did not supply this inverter, it was either standard equipment or a standard option. I recall it being of European, if not French manufacture. It was wired to all outlets, and powerful enough to run the microwave as long as you didn’t try to use the grilling element. I believe it was 1200 watts, but am not sure.

We eventually sold Delos (to some guy who makes YouTube videos) and later bought SM 266 “Hanalei” which also had a factory installed convertisseur, but this was wired to separate outlets that were placed in the galley, both heads and the nav station, above and below the chart table. However, Hanalei is unusual in many regards, not the least of which is:

Unretouched photo of fiberglass locker lids that aren’t blue!

Anyway, Hanalei has a 1200 watt Solo inverter:

I believe this is the same as originally on Delos.

However, all of this equipment, on our boat and all other SMs of similar vintage, is now 20ish years old and either has been or needs to be replaced. Our Solo inverter recently announced that it would no longer cooperate with us and attempts to negotiate a temporary operation agreement have been only marginally successful. Sigh.

So, thanks to all you who have posted detailed descriptions of your experience with installing new, and more modern inverters.

When I choose “Navigate” to a waypoint, the pilot steers the boat until it gets a 0.05 nm to 0.10 nm  XTE to port every time. Then it course corrects by heading to starboard until it gets back on the rhumb line. Takes about 5-10 minutes depending on the wind speed. Anyone with the same experience? Would it have to do with compass deviation? I am using a Raymarine E Series chartplotter.  Pilot is a rotary drive type.
