I used to have the 10’ 6” Highfield and loved it you can put it longways with the rear pontoons on either side of the shower hatch or across either way fits. If using the winter enclosure must be placed across does partially block part of the deck but really no issue. Cheers Courtney Trippin Carriacou Quarantine

Hi Dirk;
Thanks for sharing your experience.
We are getting ready to make our final selection of our new tender. We intend to carry the tender on the aft sundeck and was wondering if the tender interferes with the Mizzen traveler, or any other operational items on the boat. when stowed on the aft sundeck? Did you get any of the options and if so, which ones would you recommend?
Respectfully;

Hi Mohammad, the Highfield CL 360 fits almost perfectly to the Simpson davits. There is only a difference of approx. 4 cm inbetween the pick-up points on the tender and the rollers on the davits. But you could also adjust this perfectly with small changes to the dinghy. The CL 360 will certainly start to plane with a 20 HP outboard motor and 4 people in the boat. With six people on board, we were very quickly with the new Yamaha 25PS ... At the stern there are also two attachment points for toys or other things to pull. We have had many dinghies from Zodiac and other manufacturers ... the Highfield seems to be better in processing than many similarly priced boats... especially the aluminum hull. I know some blue water sailors who have changed to a Highfield and are very enthusiastic. Currently we stay for the winter period in the northern Adriatic sea. There and in many places in the Mediterranean we had to moore with stern first. Sometimes it´s not easy... you have to be careful with the dinghy. But it doesn´t matter if the dinghy is 3,40 or 3,60 long. Hopefully that helped…
All the best and stay healthy!

Hole through bulkhead aft of forward head
eric freedman <kimberlite@...>
I recall a discussion about a hole in this bulkhead where wires and pipes pass through. It is supposed to be located low outboard of the bulkhead on the port side . It is supposed to be visible from the forward saloon seat. With this discussion , it reminded me to check that. Fair Winds Eric Kimberlite Amel Super Maramu #376
From: main@AmelYachtOwners.groups.io On Behalf Of Craig Briggs via groups.io
Assuming the forward compartment is flooded it follows that water pressure will aid in sealing the door such that the crossbar would be redundant (other than to seal its own bolt hole). Dogging it so tight as to deform the door and cause gaps at the top seems unnecessary - a gentle snug should do. That being said, my door has a perpendicular stiffening piece of wood and the entire door engages the seal evenly when closed and dogged (haven't tried to dog it with great force).

Bill,
The aluminum tube part of the long poles on Cara (Hull #440) are just over 442cm long. The entire pole with the end fittings is around 469cm. Pics below: -- Mark McGovern SM #440 Cara Deale, MD USA

Re: watertight doors
David Wallace
Friends of ours told us the story of hitting a rock in Maine waters while sailing their Maramu at six knots. The result was an approximately 1’ hole in the forward hull. They immediately closed the forward door and valves and easily motored to a boatyard where
the boat was subsequently lifted and the hole repaired. They said the boat longitudinal axis stayed level and the water in the v-berth was only up to the top of the bunks.

My aft door only seals at the bottom and sides; the top is open and there is no crossbar. If the aft compartment is flooded water pressure would keep the door sealed. if the main salon is flooded, you likely have problems of a "Titanic" nature. --Craig SN68 Sangaris, Tropic Isle Harbor, FL

Re: watertight doors
Eric, I have not yet tried shaving down the rubber gasket near the middle/bottom of the door to see if that corrects the issue, but I believe that may be possible. Anyone else have experience with this issue?

Hi,
it is fine, and yes you can close it. The only problem is that it limits the opening of door of the cabinet as you can see on the photo. Closing will cause more air coming from other outlets as pointed by Eric. Best regards. -- Slavko SM 2000 #279 Bonne Anse in Portoroz

Re: Pipe feeding heating in main rear cabin
eric freedman <kimberlite@...>
Nicolas, Amel delivers the boat with no holes in the heating tube in the head. Ian and Judy on PenAzen had the factory drill holes in the tubing in the head. It was a great idea, so I had Amel do the same on Kimberlite. You can close the flap on the heat vent in the aft cabin without harm to the heater as the other outlets just put out more air. Danny and Yvonne SIMMS
Hi Kent, thanks for the story. You did everything right but still got caught. The forward block blowing saved much more serious damage. Shows the value of a weak point with lesser damage potential. Raising the pole ends when the sea is up is a sensible precaution, actually advised in the Amel hand book. Kind Regards Danny SM 299 Ocean Pearl
