Re: Holding tank riser
Has anyone tried to remove the trim panel inboard of the holding tank to get better access? Can it be done without a chainsaw and/or axe?

Re: BT seals
I am not sure if Amel 54 owners realize this, but this silicone seal will replace the 60 x 80 x 12 lip seal on the 54 Bow Thruster and, although I have not measured it, I am 99% sure the A-55 as well. I am totally on board with this silicone seal that Jose designed. Bill

Re: BT seals
Hello Ken and future users of the silicone BT seals,
I am truly impressed of the interest of using my design of the silicone seals. I feel I could have started a company :) Perhaps it will help if I explain why I ended up using two different seals (Wiper and lip seal) in series instead of just one. Not knowing whether either seal was going to work well, I decided to request one of each to test how well the fit on the space. When I received them I realized that I could place the lip seal first, facing down (NOT UP as in your drawings) and then place the wiper above it as shown in the pix. Note that both seals should have the lip facing down to prevent water intake. This would double the sealing mechanism which I think is the reason for the longevity of the design. Also note that you can place them in the opposite order (but same direction !!) and it may still work well as I have heard from others. So far I have had it in place for more than 4 years without changing them and have no water intake, even in two occasions were I forgot to bring the BT up for a few minutes while on the way, or compress the neoprene donuts with the pin. The softness of the silicone seals allow some motion without opening a slit thus preventing water ingress. With the old seals the misalignment of the seals and the trunk would have deformed the seals and damaged the for ever. How to do it: Use silicone sealant to seal the bottom of the lip seal against the fiberglass bottom and side surfaces. Then I added sealant to the top flat surface of the lip seal also and aded the wiper with the lip FACING DOWN also. This lets half of the wiper protruding above the fibre glass opening but it still has good attachment against the top surface of the wiper and the side of the fibre-glass opening. Place some weight over the wiper to push it agains the lip seal and leave the silicone sealant dry overnight. Add the neoprene seal but only glue it after you have passed the trunk to guide its proper location. Before you bring up the trunk, because the diameter of the lips is slightly less than the trunk’s diameter, It is NECESARY to use the wood insert provided by AMEL to service the BT on the water, also to help sliding the trunk up once the seals are in place. A little silicone grease will also help. If you don’t use the wood wood, you will find it very difficult to insert the trunk up and you may ruin the wiper. Here are two pix that may help Jose Ipaname SM2K 278

Re: Solar installation and Link10 Battery Monitor
Michael Markstaller
Hi,
from your explanations, sorry, I would suspect your missing some major things! IF the MPPT is going directly onto the battery its bypassing the battery-monitor, so you won't see it at all. How much PV panels do you have? Really? 26-28V says nothing, it's the job of your MPPT-charger to adjust that to your batteries like 12V (14,4V charging, 13,5V "Standby") or 24V (below 28.8V charging they will never get full above 70-80%) I found nothing on Google, what a "Link 10" could be -- Daniela & Michael Blue Horizon - EUROS #215

Re: Solar installation and Link10 Battery Monitor
Ian, Mark's advice is correct. I am going to go a bit further. I had a marine electrician wire my MPPT and panels to the battery bank. He connected the negative terminal to a convenient bolt on the shunt in the photo below. This is the wrong place because it distorted the readings showing too much energy going into the battery bank. See the next photo below. I suggest that you connect the cables to the battery switches and connect them on the Battery side of the positive switch and the negative switch. I also suggest that you consider using a positive and negative bus bar to take some of the wires off of this terminal. This photo is of a Typical Positive Switch on an Amel. The Negative switch will look about the same. I placed a green circle on the switch lug that needs to receive battery charging from the MPPT.

Stove 2 burner gas hose specifications
#stove
Hi Amalians,
Preparing to go to Abayomi on monday from Holland and getting some late spareparts. Appreciate if anyone would know the length of the gas-hose on the standard 2 burner stove on a 1995 Super Maramu. We would like to change the hose soonest after 25 years due to possible insurance exclusions in case of fire. Anyone who could give us the specifications of the gas hose and the couplings on this I assume ENO 2 burner stove from 1995? Thanks Eric sv Abayomi SM 158

Re: Solar installation and Link10 Battery Monitor
Mark McGovern
Ian, It's sounds like the DC negative cable from your solar charge controller is wired incorrectly and is bypassing the shunt. Therefore, the shunt and the battery monitor are not "seeing" the amps going into the batteries from the solar panels. Try moving the negative cable coming from the solar charge controller to the "inlet" side of the shunt so that the current from the charge controller is going through the shunt. The shunt is located outside the battery compartment on the other side of the main DC negative stud that is inside the battery compartment. Remove the mattress above the battery compartment and you will see a small hole where you can access the shunt. Mark

Solar installation and Link10 Battery Monitor
ianjenkins1946 <ianjudyjenkins@hotmail.com>
Hello all,
We have just escaped London for Greece and reunion with Pen Azen who has been fitted with two solar panels in our absence .
The solar monitor shows good volts and amps going in to the batteries but the Link 10 , whilst showing good volts ( 26-28 ) also shows that with only the fridge on ( we are ashore ) we are losing amps, now down to about 70%
What is curious is that when we use the 220v chargers with shore power the readings don’t change.
Can it be that in some way the addition of the solar interferes with the function of the Link10?
The panels are small , giving maybe 7.5 Amps . The wiring from the MPPT goes direct into the battery compartment to connect with the two main stubs
Any ideas ?
