Mohammad, I went through a similar issue last year with mine.  It ended up being the IPC relay, which I was able to diagnose using the SP_troubleshooting guide.  I also showed the steps used in my details of bow thruster details PDF.  It is picture 11,page 7.  You will use a jumper wire on the solenoid, to see where the problem is.

Our bow thruster stopped working on one direction. While pulling out the manuals, I would appreciate any information regarding the potential source.

Re: Volvo D3-110 Sensor - Spare Sensor Sets

Ruedi,

The best advice I can give you to get a list is to contact Volvo France for that list with your model and serial number. You have model C and I believe the latest model is at least H.

Volvo France is the ones who modified at least some, maybe all of the D3s for isolated ground. There might be a different sensor between some models. I am not sure of that.

The sensor that seems to be the most common sensor to fail and cause problems is the boost sensor followed by the oil pressure sensor, but this is not an analytical answer.

If/when you get an answer, please let me know, and if possible, ask which models of the D3, in addition to the C, the list will apply to.

Does anyone have a list and a source of those vital sensors?

Can anybody let us know which of those you have spare and where you ordered them?

@Bill Rose: Do I need to have all these sensors with isolated ground? Not sure about these?

I found some with 3 Pins, four pins and also 2 pins. The “m prop valve” Sensor has only 2 pins and therefore most likely not with isolated ground?? Correct?

Hope to get some feedback about the mystery - sensors ;-)

Resource - hinges for chain locker A54

Stefan Schaufert

Dear Amelians,

18 month ago I tried to refurbish the hinges on the anchor locker/ cover door.

Without success.

Unfortunately Maud wrote me today that the (chain locker)

„hinges for the lockers of your boat are no longer available from us.“

They appear to be the same as for the watertight bulkhead doors.

Does anybody used another resource to get this hinges?

Hi,

Yes the central spindle does pull out from the top. It can be stubborn at times but it should come out once you have removed the two or three inserts that sit at the top of the tower where the spindle sinks into.
You may need to use some penetrating oil to free them up a bit more.

Update: I’ve been able to confirm I do have power to that outlet.

Now to open up the back of the washing machine to see if I can ascertain why the unit won’t power on.

More to come…

Re: Running larger battery charger cables

Bill Kinney

If you drill holes here, be sure to figure out how you are going to make them waterproof after running the cables.   This is one of the watertight bulkheads that is critical to making an Amel, an Amel.  The engine room is by far the most likely place to have water entering the boat in an unplanned manner.  That is a big enough problem, but having holes which allow that problem to spread unchecked to the rest of the hull has the potential to turn a big problem into a disaster.

Many of the older Amels I have been on have some, or in a few cases all, of the watertight bulkheads compromised by unthinking modifications.

If you have an Amel savvy surveyor, one of the first things he’ll look for is holes in what are supposed to be watertight bulkheads.

Re: Laden Washing Machine power problem?

Kevin if you are using shore power in Newport, it is 60 hertz and will ruin the washer.

There is no other breaker, except for the main 220-volt breaker and the main breaker on the side of the Onan. If you are not using shore power you might unplug the washer from inside the adjacent cabinet and with an extension cord, use one of the other sockets in the galley.

The shock cord that holds the lee board in my cabin has seen better days.

Does anyone know how to get to the ends of the shock cord?

Has anyone devised a method of attaching the furling sails to the foils without tying them on?
