Those studs are for vibration isolation. They do isolate electrically, but that is incidental. Like you we replaced ours when the old ones gave up.  The studs do not connect through.

Good point regarding their controller being the problem…will check it out once again. 

Silent Wind was all the rage a few years ago when I bought mine. I certainly wasn’t being economical as it was over $2500 as I recall.  A feature i particularly liked was that it was 3-phase with the rectifier near the batteries so comparatively light wiring was required. As I recall the unit was designed and manufactured in Portugal and the support was minimal. Another unique feature was the blades..they were very quiet and efficient. In fact, at the time the D400 offered their blades as a $100 option.  I did the wind generator and solar panels at the same time and perhaps the solar improvement was so dramatic that it was easy to forget about the wind generator. I think I’m going to revisit that area and see if I can improve the performance.

I have a Volvo TMD22a and there is a black box mounted on the front side of the engine that contains relays ,etc. The box is held in place with rubber bushings , three of my bushings have broken and all need to be replaced. Does the box need to be electrically isolated from the engine ? I have found bushings online with studs on both ends ,but I don't know if the studs go through the center and is one stud or two separate studs. It would not matter if the box does not need to be isolated .

Not everyone knows that you have an Amel 54. And, not all Amel 54s have the motor that you have. A54 #172 was built late in the production of the 54 and has the same furling motor as A55s. Earlier 54s had the same furling motor as SMs.

All of the following is copied from my Amel Book:

The issue is that when water enters the top of your motor, it will ruin the motor and a replacement costs over 2000 euro. According to SAV, there is no possibility of rebuild when this happens, although I believe someone posted here that they were able to rebuild. If so, I am sure it depends on how much saltwater damage.

Amel suggests that the top seal of the furling motor should be changed every 2 years. This seal is less than 10 euro. The motor is more than 2000 euro, but more than half of Amel owners do not change this seal every 2 years.
