Re: Hardtop for Amel 54 and SM
Hello Seckin. We did the hardtop for our SM last spring with the invaluable help and advice of our friends from Laddy Anilla. It cost us around 6000, canvas, inox and solar panels included. I can share the expenses in detail, if you want. Victor Alendoy SM314

Dashboard drawings Amel 55 mk1
Hello,
We are doing a refit of our Amel 55 from 2012 and replacing the instruments etc. I was wondering if anyone has a drawing of the cockpit dashboard with the exact measurements. I was also wondering if somebody has the material specification of the black panels used on the dashboard. Thanks, Joan Amel #5505

I hope all of you had a good season. This year we sail in Turkish coast in Marmaris - gökova - Gocek. We spent about 90 days at sea. (ıt is quite long for us as a young family of 3, had a school age girl at 5 years old) I wonder about HARDTOP project that is last been discussed in january. Is there any other friends who implemented hardtop for their boat this summer? I wonder about the price of the hardtop from those who had previously assembled. (and also the pictures please…) Best regards; Seckin SY HAYAT SM#76

Re: Autopilot drive on a Amel Maramu 46ft
Can someone tell me which drive unit fits on the quadrant in an Amel Maramu?

Re: Autopilot drive on a Amel Maramu 46ft
Dear Volker,
Thank you for your comment. I've seen your setup. Looks nice. I also checked the Jefa site and saw that a Maramu is too heavy for the direct drive autopilot drive unit type I (30' to 45'). When I want to use Jefa I have to install the direct drive autopilot drive unit type II (40' to 55'). The drive unit type II is 252 mm high and I cannot store that height in the hatch at the quadrant. Too bad because I think I would also be very satisfied with a Jefa drive. Thanks again
Yours sincerely

Measured mine last year when considering lithium - see attached sketch (dimensions are mm). Think this tallies with Dominique's response.

Re: Galley sink drain
Further info on this topic. I just learned that an A55 owner installed a direct drain to a new through hull for the galley sink. Anyone on this forum? That sounds like a great solution - furthering the idea that the boat has all the comforts of home. And given that that the engine room is water tight I see the additional risk posed by the additional through hull as small. So I’m considering doing the same. Thoughts? Do other Amels have more than one through hull below the water line? Joerg Esdorn

Re: which pump?
Scott SV Tengah
We have used a variable speed Marco UP-6E on our A54 for over two years.
Without the accumulator, it died within 3 months, with an accumulator, it has lasted almost two years and is still going strong. Two differences with the A54, compared to previous models, is that our domestic water lines are all rigid (I believe PEX) AND further our toilets are fresh water flush, using a water solenoid. In my extensive conversations with Marco engineers, it appears that those two result in a hammer effect that damaged the seals within our Marco pump. The pump is great and provides more water than we need. I believe the SM has flexible domestic water supply lines so potentially its not an issue, but I would still use an accumulator. -- Scott 2007 A54 #69 SV Tengah http://www.svtengah.com

Re: Autopilot drive on a Amel Maramu 46ft
Dirk,
we do have a Sharki snd did install the second autpilot in the aft compartment as a complete independent drive from our old 6000 system. The second system is a Raymarine with a Jefa drive. We are very pleased with its performance. Volker Mickmoon, Sharki hull 176

Re: Maramu replacement autopilot drive motor
Alex BAIZEAU
Here are some pictures of our Raymarine type 2 setup. It’s unfortunate that it sticks out but we are happy with it. You can see that the casing have been drilled on the side so that the electric cables don’t exit through the back of the unit anymore. Alex, Maramu 207

Re: 12V alternator for D3 Volvo on Amel 54
Ian Fraser
Thanks Dean. It certainly looks like this is a common issue with trying to find an isolated ground alternator that fits on the D3……seems the Volvo ones needed to be “modified”.

Hi Miles and Jacob,
I also want to put a raymarine autopilot on our Amel Maramu. Could I get a picture from you so I can see how you have placed the autopilot. Thank you!

Re: 12V alternator for D3 Volvo on Amel 54
Ian,
I have recently replaced my alternator with the (expensive) Volvo numbered model. I had to modify (ie machine) the alternator mountings to accept the delrin 'sleeves' that Scott mentioned. I suspect these sleeves were installed by Amel. So be aware that the Volvo numbered alternator does not just fit without modification, even if you do have those sleeves to hand. Good luck. Re: which pump?
Mike Longcor (SV Trilogy)
I'll add that we do not use an accumulator. The variable speed pumps don't need them. I've heard mixed reports about whether or not an accumulator actually messes up the operation of a variable speed pump. At any rate, it's just one more thing on a boat... simplify whenever possible. Hi Eric, the 55psi will put extra load on every connection with a greater possibility of failure. So long as you are happy with that I cant see a problem.

Re: Installing rub rail inserts
Hi Craig,
I was looking into the rub rail rubber replacement and found your last mail to Darren and Karen. It seems a little late but have you in the mean time already found the 10 to go ahead for an order? We are very much interested only would like to know what the costs would be for a Super Maramu Als we have potentially two other SM owners who are also interested. Appreciate to know if we would still join for a next order Thanks Eric & Els Opdeweegh sv Abayomi SM158 currently in Holland preparing for a circumnavigtion from July 2023
