Thanks Danny and all who offered thoughts. Yes I did think the windvane a bit of a stretch, I was only considering it due to future short handed cruising plans. I guess I'll look into fitting a spare

Hi Alan. I remember the commotion this boat caused while it was being built.
As you know, it was done right and the engineering is to Amel standards so
you probably have not had any collateral

I just posted 2 pics in a new folder called Elyse.
Elyse has a furler on an inner forestay that was installed at the factory.
The deck fitting is through bolted to a massive 12mm thick

At the factory they called that the mizzen ballooner.
I thought you had a staysail running forward of the main mast.

On the Raytheon ST7000+ auto pilot that came on my Super Maramu (SM2K #289), if you press both the Standby and Auto pilot, you are in wind vane mode.

Two autopilots,a spare brain and control panel. Pay attention to the response setting on your autopilot to save amps. Trimmed correctly there is no lee helm. If you have a few extra

Has any SM owner fitted a windvane for ocean passages? If so what make?
I am considering making this addition before my next passage but have heard some reports that certain boats do not respond well

Many thanks, I have had two different engineers look at it and we all are all baffled. I have sent it off to a machine shop to see if they can figure it out. The oil seal at the front is easy enough

No I regret that I did not. Once I had a replacement in case something went wrong I used enough force to get enough clearance to be able to flush out the cavity and then pump it full of grease. It
