Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Repower
Frankly, I am at a loss as to why a person would change an engine in the first place. We have the Perkins TMD 22A Turbo and it runs like a gem. I can still reach the hull speed of over 8 knots and I

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Repower
We have 110hp Ynamar and I think you have a bit more power in reserve when the going gets tough.
Probably not much difference in flat water.

Hi again Wolfgang,
the FURUNO pilot you have, with L&S hydraulic pump and strut is a very reliable system. If you want better, you should have a full second one installed.

Re: Bowthruster Amel 54
Hi Wolfgang,
you must have used your bow-thruster a lot! It usually stops after 3 minutes of use (like 18 times 10 seconds).
Making a way to ventilate the bow-thruster will not change much about motor

Yep....Yanmar 80 turbo. We are trying to sort out the 2 alternator option, and then get the engine to the yard in St Augustine. With a little luck, we will get North by late July or early August. You

I'll be late getting there, too, Steve. Going to get the electrical problems solved before I go North again. Still hope to be Cape Cod area by midJuly.
I think you're making the right decision about

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Repower
Thanks Kent. We have decided to go with the 80hp, as I just don't want to risk CDrive issues. I hope you have your electrical gremlins sorted soon, and are back on the water. We still hope to see you

Thanks for the info Chris. It looks like 80 hp is the way to go on our older boats due to the Cdrive issues.

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Repower
Thanks Jean-Pierrre. I'd love to have a simple normally aspirated engine, but we don't seem to have many non turbo options. John Deere makes an 80hp, but I need to check on fitment issues. How is you
