Hi again. In all my years I've never seen the box itself break out of its glassed in mount.
Where is the boat now?
If indeed its come lose I'd suggest you get the boat hauled before you get into any

So, I cleaned the bilge after work today using Bill R's advice. I also removed the pump and checked it over 100%. It is in great shape and looks as if it were recently

Is it the actual stuffing box that is turning or just the large white nut ?
If its the nut then its easily fixed by repacking the gland and tightening the nut.

I cleaned this the other day as my flapper valve inside the pump fell off. I found the screws, the flapper and the small metal plate inside the one-way valve. So, the valve is dual purpose

I find a critical is to have the non return valve in the foot valve at the bottom of the suction hose working well. That keeps the suction hose full up to the pump so the pump doesn't have to suck too
