Jay,
I know an Amel Maramu owner in Grenada that might know something about this boat.
Do you want me to contact him?

Jay,
Yahoo strips off attachments, so nobody received it.
If I were you I would get a dropbox account, upload the survey, then share the link to the survey.
Best,
Bill

The Survey
Hi Amel Owners
I figured I would send out my survey on a Mango I am closing on and get your thoughts. I won't cloud judgement with my refit plans. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Next time you are in a sandy or stoney anchorage, flake your chain across the bottom a couple of times and it will come back clean as a whistle.

Kent,
I wasn't sure how quickly the Zn would react with the HCL either. Our chain has a zinc anode near the anchor, so to check I put that in first and let it soak for 10 minutes. The zinc appeared

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Cleaning Anchor Chain
Hi Duane,
How long had it been since you inspected it?
Once it has some rust on it, I'd be considering having it regalvanized. If it's rusted, the zinc galvanizing is gone in that area. I don't know

After looking the chain over this morning, it could probably use a re-galvanizing. Peg tells me the debris in the anchor locker is more sea grass than anything else (I misunderstood her last night

Duane,
We had our original chain regalvanized twice and bought new chain about 2 years ago. So that is 3 times in 10 years, or about once every 3.3 years. I hate rust or signs of rust anywhere!

Cleaning Anchor Chain
We're still working on our new-to-us boat, and since we're here for the week I decided it was time to have a look at the anchor chain. Peg and I lowered it to the dock after disconnecting the anchor.
