I used to own an Aston Martin and this whole conversation reminds me when the DB7 was introduced…
It was criticized as being a Jaguar, no longer hand made, etc.

What is it with bagging of the 55? I remember when the 54 was criticized when it came out and especially after that terrible accident with the gentleman on a halyard on an electric winch.

The structural strength of monocoque construction allows lighter scantlings and reduced overall weight so I find it hard to believe there was weight saving. Perhaps more likely to be trying for the
