All good ideas. I've not done an Ocean crossing yet, so haven't delved into this as I will before I do.
All I can add now is that I put all portable electronics in the oven when a thunderstorm

Bill,
I agree in general with your belts and suspenders approach to having redundancy in all critical systems. I will be carrying my Weems and Plath sextant + tables. I thought that I would

Bill,
I am in agreement with all of your comments on the Amel Bow Thruster. If starting from scratch today, I am not sure that it would be possible to improve much if any over the original design.

Another way to pick up the hull shape in the event that another Santorin is not close by, is to fill the bow thruster bay with polyurathene foam (cut from sheets and you can use bondo to fill gaps)

Could you share some of your knowledge and experience with the Amel bow thruster? For instance, what techniques do you find work best when backing using the thruster? Also what procedures

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] anchor chain wash
On Peregrinus, the anchorwash is effective on sand and light mud. The pump is a reliable old, rusty Shurflo that does its job.
For heavy mud, this is insufficient, and our solution is to quickly run
