Rather than cutthe hose, try using a little penetrating oil. Take the clamps off the daybefore, spray a little oil around the top and leave it overnight. It shouldslide off easily the next

Your advice enabled us to bring the motor and gearbox off. Gear box is with a tool maker so think we will get sorted. The motor is in excellent condition.

Did you buy the stainless steel elbow that is on eBay? It is beautifully made and should last forever unlike the yanmar piece and is half the price of the yanmar.

A good supplier of Barka Italian taps is Penguin Engineering in UK who do mail-order. Not sure about the 54 but some of them match the older Amels and probably better quality chrome plating
