And, I will take a wild guess that the white wire is the activation ("excite") wire from the ignition. If it switches ON with the ignition switch, you found your problem...next, you need to find

You need to start figuring it out because Amel did it differently when they built SMs with the Yanmar engine and nobody else is going to have the same.

I think that I would try another 1/6 turn. The nut will be very tight when it is tight enough. My guess is that you did not have it tight enough, but I can't be sure because I am not

I had the same problem.. it is one of continuous wear on the packing and eventually it leaks; you are not alone and every SM eventually has this problem.

Sounds like your rudder gland packing job wasn't done well the last time.Yes it can be done in the water, but if your SM428 is like mine, 437, you can expect water to come through

It is quite possible to replace the packing made of 3 similar parts ("étoupe" in French,t hey are not called "seals") as long as you are stopped in a flat sea.
You need 3 lengths of 20cm (about 8")
