Make sure all 24v equipment is off while you desulfate. The high voltages will fry some electronics.

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] electric gas switch
Alex,
I changed my solenoid to a USA made solenoid.
It is very easy to get and the pipes fit up to it quite nicely.
I think you are a few boats away from Kimberlite on the Ponton.

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Bilge Pump Quit
As a safety measure we have installed a second bilge pump mounted above the first so that if the first stops working and we don’t immediately notice, the second will cut in and take over the job

My 2 cents: My bilge pump has lasted about 17 years now. I don’tconsider it old technology, but old faithful. IMHO, you get what you pay for.
I carry arebuild kit including the plastic wheel. I

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Bilge Pump Quit
Hello Mark,
My plan was to buy a Rule 2000 and use it while I figured out how to fix the old one. But, after meeting... (and sailing with) several Amel owners, I have decided to KEEP the Rule 2000

Hi Kasper,
What is the name of the rigger who did the survey on your Santorin's rig in Sicily (or the boatyard /marina)?

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Viewing Amel 54 - what to look for?
Hi Scott;
I truly am not aware of anything that I would consider Amelspecific problem areas. Every boat has design considerations that appeal to someand not to others. Other than design related

Eric, I have two gas tanks in the compartment on the portside. Both are connected to that switch. One tank has European connection and uses buthan (available here in Martinique), the other has a U.S.

Hi Ryan. Usually the drain is a metal/bronze??? pipe of small diameter that is often/usually connected to a hose that drains to the sump. Sounds like you are on the right track. Let us know…

Apologies, I'm Scott.
Thanks for the recommendation on the surveyor. The boat I'm looking at is in France, so I'll reach out to Olivier and mention that you sent me his way. :)

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Re: Companionway well drain
Hi Joel,
Do you have a photo of what the well drain looks like? I had my well fill up a month or so ago and it did not drain on its own. Some time later, I found a little black tube above the sump

Pat,
Batteries kept at 100% charge, or near so, by an accurate float charger do age, but very slowly. Batteries kept this way should last a very long time. Eight to ten years would not be at all
