I'm betting the check valve on the AC water system is leaking and air is being sucked backwards through the centrifugal

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Upwind with staysail
FWIT, on my PSC I used running backstays when setting the staysail in strong winds so as not to tempt fate. It certainly seems a bad idea not to, and negligent not to have them installed by a rigger,

Duane,
I had both the genoa and ballooner sheaves replaced when I bought my SM this past July before I sailed it up to the Chesapeake. If I were you, I would change them both while you are up there

Hanspeter,
I'm not sure what the "units" are that your plan quotes. The vendors who sell Iridium products are bound by their contracts to sell at very similar prices. I got 500 minutes of airtime

Do you also have the tigres windlass on your SN?
So the solution you describe with a snubber to take load off the main line makes sense
Did you use this when dropping too ?

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Chain to rode. How do you ?
John,
Can you explainthe last line please. Are you talking about a snubber line?
Finally we use a snug chain as a security back up and alsoat anchor so the boat swings on rope across the bow

Miles, John
I have a Santorin too. It had 8mm chain (60m + 40m rode) when I took over ownership. I changed to 100m of 10mm chain. I much easier to do a seasonal end to end swap over with all

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Chain to rode. How do you ?
Thanks John
Sounds
Like you have a nice well proven setup
Ive also used 100 m all chain before on a previous boat and loved the simplicity and security.
I was also hoping to hear from folk with chain

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Chain to rode. How do you ?
My Santorin (Nga Waka) is 1991 and 46 feet so I guess similar to your vessel
On purchase the boat was down in the bow, it transpired that the drain hole was full of dirt and had blocked up!
