Eric, I do the same once we run flush the system we leave the fresh water flush water in the water maker under pressure. ( we close the valve with the high pressure pump off and the 'boats' fresh

I looked at the Mango "Hu Song" a year ago. It was so dirty that you wouldn't want to go into the boat. It was so full of old gear and trash that you couldn't get to the forward

The best solution is to rig up a timer to flush the membranes with fresh water every few days. Most modern watermakers have this capability. I did this using a fish feeder timer that people

I replace the pre filters after I do the final fresh water rinse. Then one
quick flush to fill the filters.

Eric, generally speaking if I were to leave Challenge I'd make sure I had real good fresh water flush. But before I flush I pull out the pre-filter and clean the filter case put in a charcoal filter

I lost my membranes and end caps with pickling solution. I now use only
fresh water flush. The longest I leave the boat unattended in st Martin is 2
months. I believe Ian Jenkins has laid up his boat

Highly reccomend McLube. Its dry, clean, & works incredibly well.
Great used on sails to seal & makes them easier to furl in the mast.

an old trick to keep ball bearing balls in place it use grease to hold the balls. Try it or use some other stuff you can wash off you you don't make a mess after the fact.Richard and Joan on SM 209
