Regrettably, Bali Hai was lost in the Atlantic near the US shore when the crew abandoned her.
Here are some photos of an aft cabin hatch install on a SM. I do not recommend the wooden outside spacer

George,
I installed a low profile Lewmar hatch above our bed ,just aft of the bulkhead about 15 years ago. It has been a great improvement and I could not imagine sleeping or even being in the aft

Hi George,
You will not be the first to do this. There was an SM called Bali Hai, based in Malta, whose owners did the same. Since sold, I don't know where it is today.

Re: Stuck mainsail swivel
Olivier,
That is the mizzen swivel but our problems are just with the main and, you are right, you can only turn the swivel 15 or 20 degrees if the bolt is in place.
The real complication is that,

We love our 2004/5 SM COCO, currently on the hard in Greece.
As part of a post COVID set of upgrades while staying on the hard, we are considering installing a full size Lewmar style hatch, opening

Re: C-drive seals
Jose,
I understand that there are two different C-Drives on the Amel 55. The early 55's had the same size propeller shaft as the 54 and SM. Latter models were increased in size, from 38mm to 50mm. I

Hello Greg,
I understand the tube is free to turn (although it can turn by only 2cm because of the frozen swivel and the bolt at the top of it).

Re: Primary Rawater Manafold
That's not quite true.....BSP 1 1/2 is 11 TPI and NPT 1 1/2 is 11.5 TPI,
NPT is a tapered thread, BSP comes in parallel BSPP and tapered BSPT.
NPS is the parallel version of NPT.
You can force an NPT

That Vetus sea chest comes in 3 sizes. Maybe Amel used different sizes at different times and models. Maybe not.

Alexandre,
The national hurricane center has Henri landing somewhere between me in
Huntington Ny and Sangaris. Most likely within 20 miles of Sangaris. I am

Hi Bill. Paint was recommended by my marine painter of many years experience. Isotal enamel single pot tinted to as close as I could to original. It flowed really well.

That would be nice, and "will land 100-150 km" away may be what one forecast you saw of many credible forecasts. If you check, say, this afternoon's updates, you will see several other model solutions

Not sure you saw, but Henry will land over a 100-150 km from where you are as a Tropical Storm or still H1...
