I do not think that is true is all SMs. SM 387 had a Raymarine M81137 Type 2 Rotary Drive.

Rotary Autopilot,
I have just rebuild my rotary autopilot it is a 24 volt type 1 . The linear drive is a 24 volt type 2.

What happens if you let the full chain out (100 meter) till the bitter end in water MORE as 100 meter deep. The boat is NOT moving through the water. Let the chain unwind itself

I have a similar on hull 426. You can connect a hose to it (Gardena type). In the locker underneath you can switch the water for the anchor wash and use the hose to clean the chain ... or what
