Part 3 re bulkhead discolouration.
I’ve just taken a torch and mirror to look behind the area above the inspection hatch on the bulkhead. It is perfectly sound and the wood is still sealed

We replace the seals along with the oil every 2 years when hauled out. It requires dropping the lower unit which allows for inspection and catching any corrosion early. We have not had any

Looking at your picture in the pdf, it looks like the chain links are too small (as if they were DIN instead of ISO). Maybe you can measure the distance over a few links and check notes with

Chain, yes, it is easy to measure, but who can say what the tolerance is...and it will certainly need replacing because of age or corrosion before stretch or wear.
