Re: [Amel] Re: 220v supply to watermaker
Steve,
My Amel Super Maramu has 12 house batteries with a capacity of about 690
amps at 24 volts. The alternator is also a dual belt 175 amp alternator.

Re: 220v supply to watermaker
Pat,
Good to hear from you too.
It's possible your 60L/hr watermaker draws little enough amperage but I'd doubt it. On my boat, the 140L watermaker draws 13A @220V, which works out over 2800 Watts.

How's life on the Sassafras? I'm not sure if this is of help, but my rationale is that at some point(s) in the day we have the genset running anyway for other appliances, and it's a lot more

There are special gaskets that seat the high pressure tubing.
I am sure you can find a cheaper fix.

Re: [Amel] 220v supply to watermaker
If I remember correctly the watermaker draws about 13 amps while running and
a lot more to start the motors.
That would be a big inverter to start the watermaker. It would also draw
about 3000 watts

Re: [Amel] 220v supply to watermaker
Pat, what is the out put voltage of your gen set? If it is from Amel it is more
then likely 220v. 50 cycle...
Further the 220V from an inverter going to a 220 v high pressure pump. will NOT
strain

220v supply to watermaker
Many of you have a stronger electrical understanding than I do so.With the price of diesel, running the genset to produce 60 liters an hour got me thinking. Would it be possible to supply the 220v.
