Dependent on how the bolts are fixed into the keel you may not actually be
able to inspect them other than have a look at the top fixings (not what i
would call an inspection). IF they are 'just'

The keel bolts are indeed Stainless steel/inox. They are located at the
bottom of the stub keel inside the large water tank. You can access them
easily in the Maramu by opening the tank-top inspection

Thanks , Dave, for the quick and interesting answer, Do you know if the bolts of the balast are in inox steel ?
I am also glad to read that your maramu from 1979 is still in good condition.

We have cruised the Pacific coast of Mexico which is quite rolly. I would invest in a passive anti-roll device of some sort and deploy it from the end of a spinnaker pole as far out as you can make

Jean Paul,
Treating the rust is part of owning a boat with a cast iron keel. Personally I would prefer if our Maramu had a lead keel however many fine European boats are built with cast iron keels.

Hello Richard, I think it is much the same as other boats. Two solutions, set a stern anchor so the boat is bows to the prevailing swell or I saw one boat where they had set the balooner pole swell

Hi Bill,
Tragic story - thanks for the head's up.
Did you get the "free one year trial berth" they've been advertising?
Cheers,
Craig on s/v Sangaris, SN#68

Re: [Amel] Main Boom End Cap Teflon Screws
Hi Kim, the bolts are nylon, 6 mm diameter and 25 mm long countersunk head. I had to drill out the old bolts and then had to recut the thread on the plate due to aluminium corrosion. Good luck. Dennis

Amel 54 - Marianne
Near our hometown we've spotted the Amel 54 Marianne, which appears to be French flagged. If anyone is familiar with this yacht, or perhaps the owners read this, I am curious to know about the dodger.
