Re: Deck restoration question
The thick gel-coat on the faux teak has a hard life with the combination of UV and temperature cycling. It's great non slip but it's too much to expect it to last forever. If the deck is very old then

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Companionway door
Eric , I am not planning to go to that much work, I see no reason to. You can raise the door further than it would ever be raised normally and you should be able to cut it over sized port to starboard

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Re: Companionway door [5 Attachments]
Danny, What thickness of veneer did you use ? Did you just cut it slightly wider and slide it in under the side rails. Hope all is well down there.
Thanks,

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Increasing fuel capacity - Maramu #178
Dennis,
One other consideration, and for what it is worth...although we carried extra fuel on our circumnavigation in a Super Maramu, the most we ever used on a passage was 405 liters and that was on

Dennis,
If the fuel tank or fuel lines on my Maramu ever fails, it appears the the fuel will end up in the sump, not on top of the freshwater tanks. I also really like the gravity feed aspect. I

Re: Companionway door
Danny,
Without removing the entire companionway slide, how did you get the veneer under the side rails? Or did you just leave that "as-was"?

Re: Companionway door
Woodcraft can supply teak veneer in 4 foot by 8 foot sheets that is bonded to a paper backing making it much easier to handle than raw veneer and it is only 1/42" thick (0.6mm) , so be careful with

I have to disagree with Bill Rouse here.
I have dealt with a lot of different boats, and the Amel non-skid deck is absolutely one of the best out there. It is easy on bare skin, but is amazingly

Hello All,
I appreciate and welcome everyones feedback on my issue with faux deck cracking and restoration/refurbishment.

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Re: Deck restoration question
Dennis,
I think that the non-slip surface on an Amel comes from the difference in surface height between the faux teak boards and the faux caulk.
Those faux teak boards are gelcoat that was applied

Pat,
Veneer at 1/8" is 3mm and is about as thick as it gets. Veneer comes thicknesses beginning at about 0.5mm...see the attached chart for inch comparisons. You are probably going to have to contact

Re: Deck restoration question
My thanks to Bill for his suggestions. I'm curious if any owner has experienced 'cracking' of the faux timber material. Filling and sanding in the affected areas would need to be carefully done so
