If you plan on serious sailing and really want to do it properly then stowage on deck or aft-rail with a hydrostatic release is the way to go. (Ok mine is in the cockpit locker.) But more important

We also chose the Winslow Offshore for lightness, as we are able to lift it out with two hands. We keep it on the outside port locker, in a vertical position, raised about 2 inches off of the bottom

"Waves taller then the mast " never heard of this big waves > 20m and you are still sailing. Was that around South Africa

I, on a previous yacht was caught in a full on South Pacific storm. Waves taller than the mast breaking over the boat. Off shore NOTHING unnecessary should be on deck. Hence the Amels

Kent, that is a good compromise that several other Amelians also employ. Sam 380 has a nifty 'lift' system that Amel built which can have the raft on deck in seconds. It is pretty clever.
