Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Wearing out bearing
David,
The first sleeve went on without any trouble.
With respect to the nearing not fitting, did you see if the O ring inside the bearing is too big.? They do vary in size.

Assistance requested: ANNAPOLIS AREA (servicing prop shaft wear bearing & seals)
Hi all,
Is there anyone nearby to ANNAPOLIS willing and available to help me with refitting the lip-seals and wearing-out bearing for the prop shaft.
Things have gone far less smoothly than expected

Greets all,
I am about to go the speedi-sleeve route using the old 'wearing-out bearing' as a temporary fix until I get to Martinique next month. Reason: the new wearing-out bearing will not fit

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Mizzenmast shroud fitting?
Hi All:
Just an additional data point in the timeline of this fitting to add to Olivier's post. My boat, SM #335, of which we took delivery 1 July 2001, had those swages in the position indicated.

Re: Potential Main furler problem
Hi Ben:
When my SM #335 was 2 years old (now 13 years ago), my main sail furling gearbox did the same thing. It turned out to be a broken shaft on the motor. I can only assume that misalignment

Hi Ben,
I'm not sure why you are getting the screeching sound unless the gearbox is failing. There are no lube points on the gearbox unless the previous owner installed some, as some owners have

Can you post your manifold dimensions? Do you have a picture of it? Mine may be same size as we are same vintage or close.

Potential Main furler problem
My main furler is making a screeching sound as though it needs lubrication. Further it is slow to wind and unwind sail and stalls when too much wind pressure is present.
I can find no lubricarion

Richard,
I saw no evidence of corrosion , however I did see marks in the s/s from the lip seals. It is also difficult to add the second sleeve without overlapping them.

Richard,
I'll second the corrosion comment. No corrosion at all. I would not expect a problem with high quality bronze and stainless, they normally live quite happily together--if there is zinc

I've used the SKF Speedi Sleeves with good result (and no corrosion at all). Last time though had old sleeve rebabbitted at Centrifugal Rebabbitting in Ft Lauderdale. Inexpensive, maintains diameter
