'I know that boat you're talking about that got flooded....
It's isn't really a big issue, replacing the seals every two years is easy, and I'd rather have the Amel system than a thruster

I'm tending to agree with the air leak theory as most likely problem. That's probably what you should check first. Likely at the filter seal.
