Do you have continuity between the negative pole of the 24 system and the rigging, when testing with a multimeter?
If there is a closed circuit, you should.

This is a good idea. I agree that in the tropics running the generator + water maker+ Bat Chargers can cause create a lot of heat. Increasing the air flow can only help. Also adding and pointing

I think your 54 is no 172. You will need to get the gearbox and motors from Amel. The motor you have is considered non-repairable.
