I just talked with AquaSignal and I think I have my confusion straightened out. The silicone gasket that I found on the deck actually goes on the back side of the bulb, into a recess in the housing.

I considered a shaft generator as well as Solar. I concluded that the constant rotation of the dual 90 degree drive gearbox was too much wear and tear on this very expensive component.

We have, on two previous, occasions designed and had built really sturdy and good looking davit arches here in Australia with both 3 solar panels (only 80W each in those days) and twin AirX wind
