It was a handful of blades but plenty of crust i don't know if it was calcium based crust or not
However a wet vacuum would have made the job easier

The heat exchanger was full of white crust as well as parts from the impeller

the plug is a 20x250. This means the diameter is 20 mm and the thread is 250, for one turn, the screw translates of 2.5mm.
Take a bronze one, if you find one, it will be easier to drill than

Isn't 20mm the same as, or close to 3/4"?
Possibly one off those plastic hose barbs with male 3/4" will work for you. I wouldn't try steel because of possible thread damage, but I would try

There are a lot of articles on fuel tanks. If you do use stainless steel be sure to block it up so air can circulate under and around it. Otherwise, stainless in an oxygen starved environment, will

Just wanted to update that with 4 strong guys , timber blocks and lines , the diesel tank can be removed - we had to remove the nav desk cover and companionway hand rail , with plenty
