Hi Derrick,
to attach an extension to the short halyard all you have to do is form a loop in the tail using a bowline knot. Pass your extension through this loop and form a loop again with a bowline

Bad luck with the halyard !
If you use a similar diameter line and tie it to the halyard with a bowline it will go through the slot in the mast with a bit of pushing, and the line doesn't

We had the same problem a few tears ago. We did make a puller but that was not sufficient. We had to bring an acetylene torch on board to heat the quadrant and pull using the puller. We kept a

If all of the mounting bolts are removed and the quadrant is still stuck as mine was years ago, some gentle persuasion with a very heavy hammer worked well for me.

I had this same problem when I replaced the packing in the stuffing box.
We eventually removed the quadrant using a gear puller - it was really hard work.
But if all you need to to do is

Get yourself a spanner made in a machine shop from 2.5mm aluminum,
then all you need to do is remove the locking tab that is screwed in to the fiberglass and turn the large nylon nut
