Re: Main Sail Roller Battens
Thank you both Dave and Craig,
The battens my sailmaker is proposing to use are not the ones I sent links on. These are made of stainless steel and he has had good experience with them in other boats

I have not changed the old manifold for the new one yet.
I plan to use silicone tape for the threaded joints...and I am fairly sure that the male-male connector is bronze, not brass. I will

Speaking of favorite Turkish sail lofts as Bill was, Eric, you might also check out UK Sailmakers in Marmaris. Contact info on their website or the local sales rep is Hulki Oruz whom I'd recommend

CORRECTION:
I should have said that the roller battens were more often used in non-overlapping headsails, not genoas. I would not use any sort of batten in a genoa as the pockets get destroyed pretty

Eric,
Ullman lofts are mostly franchise lofts, not corporate owned. So you would want to specify which Ullman loft you're considering in order to get useful feedback.

If the mast is too far back (rake or bend > 0) high spreaders PULL AFT the mast resulting in reverse bend. So the mast should be perfectly centered between the lands af the shrouds to keep in column.

I asked a rigger who has a lot of experience tuning rigs and he said for the SM get the mast base sitting flat on its step. To do otherwise creates distortional tensions.

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Re: Main mast profile
Are the easy way to check is to go to Home Depot get a cheap laser and shoot a laser to the top of the mast on all four sides and see what the angles are. Make adjustments from there.
