Hey, what a great post, Derick. I wondered where our Amel-owning chemist was. Is this a theoretical idea or do you know of it being successful in the past for something like this?

Re: Rusted Ball of Chain in the Chain Locker
Kent,
I would try to dissolve the rust (which is essentially Fe++ and Fe+++) with a chelator like citric acid. An old home remedy for rust stains appearing in your dishwasher has been to run it

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Hot water pressure is low
The problem with my heater is always the hot water coil in the tank. I've had two develop leaks in 4 years. It's an integral part of the tank and can't be replaced or repaired...you have to replace

Hot water pressure is low
Has anyone experienced low hot water pressure?
The original Isotemp hot water heater was replaced in 2008. I have checked the air pressure of the hot water expansion tank and it is correct. The same

Kent keep putting an oil base anti rust solution on the chain. Give it time to work. By the sound of your other issue you got time. Think about putting a zinc on your anchor and dropping right there

Thanks Trevor, Hadn't thought of the hot metal being a problem. I'm looking at small grinders and "chippers" or electric or pneumatic chisels right now. I'll let you all know what I come up with

Hi Kent ,
Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble, either of those problems could lie in wait for any of us.
Thinking about your back, if you can rent a small battery powered 4 inch

There have to be child protection laws about that here in the US. Maybe a small Asian would fit in there? I'll go on Craig's List.

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Digest Number 3386
Kent,
Alain has the solution. A handheld grinder/cutter with a really good blade. This way you can cut it out in chunks that fit through the access panel. Find yourself a young boy, show him how to do

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Digest Number 3386
Hi Kent,
if the "needle gun" does not make it, in your situation I would use a small angle-grinder to cut the knots. A small one allows to use it with one hand through the port locker manhole.

Thanks again Danny and Patrick. I share your concerns and won't do the acid thing without professional advice/help. The port locker access certainly sounds doable and unless I'm completely convinced

Kent, I share Danny's concerns about acidic fumes in an enclosed area, you do not want to breath that stuff. Assuming that your locker floors are not rotted out as mine were and do not need to be
