Prop shaft electrolysis
I have been following this thread and have not heard anyone suggest that you should probably drop the rudder and inspect the rudder shaft and skeg hinges for electrolysis damage.

Prop shaft and rope or chain wrap
We were anchored in a deep inlet in Minorca along with anumber of other boats one of which had laid a buoy to mark the position of hisanchor.
The tide had turned whilst they were ashore and the boat

The prop shaft has looked perfectly normal every time I've changed the seals until now. There are also a couple of jagged-edged holes in the shiny part of the shaft just aft of the major damage that

That's an interesting addendum to the story.
Are you sure now that it's electrolysis and not something to do with the propeller chain wrap incident that maybe was never repaired properly

I'm waiting for a reply from Amel...hope I'm not too much older before I hear from them. I have talked to Joel Potter who says the lower unit has to be removed to change the prop shaft. There

My guess is that the electrolysis source is DC current from onboard systems. milliamps. Double digit or higher?. The chargers you mention definitely are suspect, but so are all the dc powered
