Also, be aware of traffic once you get north of the keys. There is always a lot of traffic going in and out for Ft. Lauderdale/Miami to the Bahamas (cruise ships, tankers etc.)

Most Amels are pretty much "ready" to go. Does the boat need a refit or are you wanting to make modifications. Most would suggest you own the boat for year before you do major modifications. So if

I agree the Amel is not an ICW boat. Part of our long range plan was to bring the boat near our St. Louis home on the Mississippi to get it ready while I finished up my last few years before
