Re: [Amel] RE: Fresh water pump going on more often and for longer period
Hot water or better put heating the water raises the pressure so in the short term less pumping.

Hi All if one feels it is the heat exchange then the exhaust outlet near the water line can be swabbed if the sample smells like anti freeze then heat exchanger is the most likely at fault.

All things considered, I don't know why you want to use anything but the
whip.

*Mark*,
You are right on with your question. If the pressure drops, there is a leak
in the cooling system...that is all it tells you. It does not tell you
where the leak is, nor does it tell you it

If you get no pressure drop there is no leak in the system. Its like filling a tire and putting it in a water tank looking for bubbles the find a leak this way you simply look for a pressure

Re: SSB/HF Antenna Backstay or 23 Foot Whip?
A backstay antenna can have its lower insulator high enough that it's not possible to grab hold of the insulated (antenna) part. This is a very good primer on SSB installation :

Re: [Amel] Re: Coolant Overflow
Interesting, Trevor. I don't think that is where my overflow is coming from, since it happens when M not heating water except by the Yanmar. There is no contamination of the hot water either.

Re: [Amel] RE: Coolant Overflow
Richard,
Pardon my ignorance here, but what would it show if the pressure drips or
doesn't dip? Is this a way to test the heat exchanger?

The Amel philosophy regarding using a whip instead of a insulted backstay is
many fold. First, whips are more efficient in almost every possible
measure. Second, if the rig comes tumbling down

Kent, you are on the money concluding that the fresh to raw/salt water heat exchanger has a leak. It is about the only way to get the fresh water side coolant to continually increase in volume and

I just did a 3 hours genset test run (charge batteries, etc.)
With the new Capacitor, the 220 Volt exhaust fan works very well!
