There should be no problems with the rack and pinion system. Motor cars has a similar system amd they take much more abuse.

There is an access port under the floor in the galley with two bolts holding a cross bar. Just take care not to drop the cover into the tank.

Problem solved:
The Onan generator would not crank today. It has two solenoids: 1 for positive and one 1 negative. Amel is really anal about electrolysis! Anyway, I loosened low amp and high amp

12 volt alternator on the generator and the starting battery
We have been on the hook for two weeks and the starting battery seems to be losing its charge. I believe the small alternator on the generator as well as the small alternator on the main engine
