Hi Ian and Judy, I have never had to disconnect the forestay but usually have to disconnect the mizzen backstays and lower the SSB antenna. Not a problem as the travel hoist at San Carles is very big

Interesting ideas. A few years back I think it may have also have been a Bali Hai idea to use a piece of wood about 8" x 3" x 1" to prop open the windscreen if it didn't merit being fully opened.

As a sailmaker who owns a Maramu I have some ideas for your sail. Your cruising chute should be designed differently than what most sailmakers suggest to cruisers which is an AP (all pupose)

SM windscreen strut, aft lazarette floor and bow thruster retrieval kit
Three easy inprovements.I moved the strut about 12 inches closer to the centreline to make it much easier to use it. This was a couple of years ago and no ill effects on the screen.
