4mm Single braid (uncovered) dyneema has almost TWICE the strength as 4mm double braid (dyneema core

I will do it the same way, but (first) trying Dyneema with a polyester cover to have a better protection for the core.

I refused to pay any more money to Simpson so I just changed the wires without any modifications to the davits themselves. No problems so far and I wish I did it far earlier.

Either will work.
Amel changed the spec from 10-40 to 80-90 gear oil about 6 or 7 years ago. I found out about it when we were in Martinique from Amel Martinique.
